I have read about narrow angles and not to use dilating drops, so why do they?My pressures went up and since then had iridotomy and on monopost dorzolamide and iopidine. Never told me would need eye drops ongoing.
Found out from opticians my angles grade 1
So hospital I was referred to should know same

This happened to me too. I have my iridotomy Tuesday. I'm 35 and the thought of having eye drops for the rest of my life is pretty daunting! I'm hoping to find out more Tuesday. My opticians have never mentioned I had narrow angles it was seen by coincidentally at a clinic I went to when I was considering LASIK. I have e read that after iridotomy you do not need to be as careful if the angles have opened, but I could be wrong- I'm new to this! Diagnosed last week.
Average at about 24. I have optic nerve Drusen too which compromises my optic nerves. So they're doubly concerned. Are you pressures high? Did iridotomy open your angles?
Found out my pressures been low 20s since 2009 shocked. My angles where grade 1 think 2 to 3 now by different consultants. I went for cataract assessment they dilated eyes at 19 20 pressures went to 29 and next day same so gave me drops. I went private week after 2nd opinion he did iridotomy but wish I hadn't gone now. But hospital shouldn't have dilated at grade 1 so now I am stuck with drops . Pressures where 22 18 thursday
I'm at grade 1 too. Why do you wish you hadn't bothered? I have had my pupils dialed many times by the opticians because of my prescription. Never been mentioned. Why do you wish you hadn't bothered, because they dilated? Mine were grade 1 before dilation but didn't go up significantly.
I have read so much about narrow angles and seems like always on drops after iridotomy. Best for me was lens replacement has I have immature cataracts. But noe I know more I wouldn't have let them dilate my eyes. But we are all different so hopefully yours will be okay and pressures will come down. Let me know how you get on.
Thanks, I will do. I think because I get headaches and low vision at night they are being cautious. I will ask the questions when I go. They looked to see if I would be ok to have this but said I'm a little big young but they would monitor it for the future.
I have narrow angles and have been on drops for 10 years also have had a iridotomy around 6 yr ago . I have not had my eyes dilated since I was diagnosed. Never had my angles graded , is this a new thing? . I’m waiting to have some cataracts done , so I am hoping this will open up my angles a bit more when done
I have narrow angles and I have had laser iridotomy both eyes around two weeks ago now, in my file it does have a ‘do not dilate’ note but I have had to remind the nurses and ask questions on what it is they’re putting in my eyes!
I’ve had no problems so for with the iridotomy and mine was done as a preventative procedure to reduce angle closure attack risk. My pressures before laser where 17-18 had it not have been for my anxiety they probably wouldn’t have offered it and continued to monitor me tbh,
After the laser my pressures where 15-13, I’m not sure everyone had to have drops for narrow angles, I suppose it depends on the individual.
I have my follow up in two weeks, so I’ll find out then. My angles are grade one and will likely not open as i also have plateau iris configuration.
