My dad needs help....

My dad had tongue and throat cancer 8 years ago and now recently diagnosed with aspergillosis. He has a ball in cavity in lung. He has been admitted to hospital 3 times in 3 months as he has collapsed due to heart and kidney problems. He is now on beta blockers and magnesium and potassium (he refuses often). He is just now a skeleton and I'm at my.wits end. He has an appointment to see the clinic in Manchester on 9th January and I'm concerned that is too late. He has to go from Edinburgh on his own with my mum on the train. He is far too weak... Any advice for help and assistance they need? My dad is 59 and mum is 68 still working

hi, sorry to hear yr dads so unwell.Im reccomend getting intouch with patient transport to see if a car can be arranged. You should apply for DLA for dad if hes not getting it , yr mum could then claim carers allowance.Depending on which type of aspergillosis dad has will determine the treatment theres lots of advice out there try aspergillus support its an online forum lots of lovely people best wishes sian x

If I remember correctly your local hospital / GP might be able to arrange for transport, depending in how they grade his need.

The general criteria are here: nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1079.aspx?...
