Some very good news!

On July 11th I had the lower lobe of the right lung removed due to lung cancer. The pathologist report has come back, they got all the cancer out. NO CHEMO or RADIATION, just CTscans every 6 months for the next 5 years. This diagnosis scared me enough (plus the pain of surgery) to stop smoking. I am feeling so blessed right now. Got support from people I never thought would be praying for me. Plus got support from this group. Thank you everyone.

Thanks for telling us your good news. Yes you're very blessed and I'll tell you my story is just about the same as yours. Stopping smoking is a wonderful thing! I couldn't imagine another one in my mouth and feel so good. Best to you.

All I have to do is think of the pain I have been in since the lung surgery and that keeps me from lighting up. Plus, the money I spent on cigarettes is now being spent on art supplies.

Back in 2009 I quit smoking and like an idiot I started smoking again in 2014. This time I plan NOT to light up again. Quitting smoking is not easy but can be done if you really want to quit. Sometimes it helps to have a support group or a quitting buddy.

Hi kgie so glad for you. On july 29, 2016 i had the same type of surgery. Didn't have chemo or radiation. My doctors told me it would take from approx one year or longer and they have been spot on. However all pain and discomfort will diminish pretty soon. God speed🙏🌹

Thank you! I feel like such a baby when I have to take a pain pill and lay down. I know I am not as young as I used to be and yet I still expect my body to bounce back like it did when I was n my 30's. Did you also have COPD along with the cancer?

No never dx with COPD. And don't feel bad about taking pain meds. ..that's what they're suppose to do relive ur pain. Your body will tell you when to stop. Be well🌹

That is such good news! I too have had the exact same surgery (lower right lobe too Stage 1B NSC) in 2012 with no chemo or radiation, but a CAT scan every 6 months. Dr says after 5 years I can go to a CAT scan once a year. Irony for me was I quit smoking 4 years before it all happened. It will be 5 years this October (2017) since my VAT surgery ....life, and God, is good. Blessings to you.

I quit smoking a week before the surgery and plan on NOT smoking anymore.

Thanks for the update. Now, after I totally heal, I need to find something worth while to do.
