As you can see, I have been affected by three problems all at the same time. I am almost reaching my eighth decade, so I can't complain but I would really love to to have some relief from one or two for a little while. Any suggestions?
Much appreciated,

I don't have Parkinson's, but I have other medical problems in addition to the neuropathy. By "approaching your eighth decade, do you mean you are IN your seventh decade and approaching 70? Or that you are in your seventies and approaching eighty? I've found that people describe it differently, and I am not clear which one you mean. I am 73, going on 74. Ain't old age grand? I don't have edema..... any more. I did have it several times as a side effect of the medications they gave me. Gabapentin will cause it in some people. Of course, it can also be due to heart disease or circulatory disease, so I hope your doctor has thoroughly evaluated all possibilities. Putting one's feet up helps. That doesn't mean putting your feet on a phone book, it means raising them above the level of your heart; but if the cause is cardiac insufficiency in the first place, that may not be advisable either. You need to ask your doctor. Also, reduced sodium salt and perhaps using a potassium-based salt substitute may help, but again, clear it with your doctor first. I wish you luck. It can be very difficult to juggle several different diseases at the same time.
