My legs they feel like nettle stings in different parts of my legs no rash. My legs feel heavy and ache like a burning ache. I do not know where to put my legs. I have been trying to ignore it. I have tried walking and stretching my legs, also resting them but still no relief. Any suggestions on is the my fnd flare up or any suggestions on what might help ease the feeling in my legs.

hi, it can be worrying. I often get the feeling of something crawling under my skin and it can be anywhere my gp could not help and it did clear itself. A neurologist said it maybe the brain sending signals down the nerves at the wrong time? But always seek advice as I had pins and needles and after testing of nerves they found carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital syndrome. I often get heavy legs after walking and if too long they start to feel like jelly and feels like I may not get home. I hope you find what you’re looking for. Kevin
Hi, do you still get B12 injections? The skin crawling thing (formication) is commonly a B12 deficiency (and/or folate deficiency) symptom. I no longer get that particular symptom. I worry that you are not getting enough treatment and that the symptom has 'cleared itself' because you've gone numb and can no longer feel it. I lost patches all over my back and spine and up to my knees before doctors prescribed B12 injections, which I now have very often, alongside methylfolate liquid in moderate doses. I haven't yet met a neurologist who understands B12 as they think it is an 'easy fix' picked up in a blood test by a GP. It is not....... Best wishes
Hi, I notice you said before that you are taking vit D, B12 and magnesium. Did you have the vit B12 and D tested before you started supplementing?
I'm assuming that you take oral vit D, so it could be worth checking it again - you might still be too low, or if you've been taking a lot then you may have gone too high.
Magnesium is essential, and you could try an oil spray on the skin for pain, as you said the skin is not broken.
Vit B12 is much more complicated. As you are taking oral (unless you meant you are getting injections?), then you will probably have raised your serum B12 high enough that a deficiency will not show. Unfortunately getting the B12 into the blood is only part of a long series of processes, any of which can go wrong. So just raising serum does not mean that it is definitely getting to the cells or able to work properly in the cells. There are other tests which may help to sort this out, but it would be easier to know if you were deficient when you started supplementing and whether you know why. Do you get any benefit from the B12? Injections are the only reliable treatment for deficiency, as oral only works for some people.
I'd also suggest testing iron with a full iron panel, and wonder if you've tried a gluten free diet?
Best wishes
I started the tables for migraines, I also have reactions to sunlight the dermatology said it was an allergy. I get sunburn if I go out side in any weather. I have to keep up with high factor sun cream and keep covered up with hats and keeping my skin covered.
Hi, the thing with FND is that the symptoms are variable. My son had electrical pulse sensations the last few months, that rendered him weak first thing and it lasted until now, half term, so clearly stressors eased and symptoms stopped really quickly.
Is there anything that the symptoms may be causing you to avoid, could your CNS be in high alert?
Thank you for all your helpful information/comments.
