Breathwork

An interesting recommendation on my local Neighbourhood feed that may help some sufferers relax and get in tune with their body. I couldn't cut and paste original post but found this:

When I feel myself getting overwhelmed I have used some breathing techniques to relax, zone out and eventually sleep.

I use tai chi breathing when I am having an attack and also the threem thousand exercise which basically is breathe in to the count of one thousand, two thousand, three thousand, then out to the same routine then hold the breath to the same count and this is thought to be the natural rhythm of normal breathing so you are effectively rewiring the brain back to normal rhythm of breathing

Thanks for sharing.I use the 3-4-5 to de-stress especially if I can sense my heart beating faster. I read:

When your out-breath is longer than your in-breath, you reduce the activation of your stress state and encourage your body to move into a thrive state. You can do a few rounds of this breath or extend it to take five minutes. Listen to your body and see what works for you.

Although I must admit I sometimes forget and do it the wrong way round.
