In the morning on my way to work my left side of my face went droopy and stopped moving it went numb and I haven't been able to move my left part of my face for 3 days now.
Its not so embarrassing but it does concern me some that if it'll go away or not. I can move it some now, but if I don't for some time then its like my brain will forget again.
Sorry to hear. I hope you're getting better as time passes. It sounds like it may be Bell's Palsy, which can occur for different reasons, one of which is a virus. Please go to your doctor/GP & get checked out. Take care.
Hoping by now things are improving for you but I did have similar. Dr thought I may have had a stroke as slight drop of face then about three weeks later I had an episode where my face dropped big time, couldn’t move the right side of my face. It was FND and after a few days whilst in hospital it improved but I still have a small droop in mouth/eye. It often feels tingly but I manage to improve things with deep breathing exercises to refocus brain
I've had the same type of symptoms on several occassions. Sure it's just the FND, but like bobbybobb said it would be worth going to A+E just to be on the safe side. Just as a quick test ....
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. Chicken Soup)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
In New York Times Magazine there was an article about a woman with a facial functional movement disorder that caused drooping on the right side of her face. 10 mg of the tricyclic antidepressant called nortriptyline reduced her symptoms, after many months, but it didn't clear the problem entirely.
Absolutely best advice is to seek medical advice. It could be a stroke, bells palsy etc. It also could be fnd. But if you have had a stroke you need to seek medical attention. No one would think you were being funny going in with those symptoms. If it turns out not to be a stroke, then all good! But you really don't want to miss it if it is.
I am sorry to hear of your symptoms.I was diagnosed with FND today so not an expert but I had drooping eye lid and facial drooping on the left side for 10 days it did improve and now comes and goes, would seek advice from a doctor, best of luck hope you are ok.
I had very similar and it was diagnosed by a neurologist as functional left sided hemiparesis. However it turned out to be a side effect of Tramadol. I say this just in case you take any similar medications for pain.
