Hi

The past few months have been terrible, I go to sleep and a few hours later I’m awoken by

Pain extreme pain and hand has swollen to what I call pudding hands.

Either arm can lock up and I do t know what I would do if both arms locked up at the same time.

I’m already on strong pain meds as I have spinal problem L4&L5. Zomorph, garbapentin max does amitriptyline oramorph plust others

When arm locks the pain is enough to make me cry pain level goes off the chart, I have get help from family member to move arm and the time first moving it this pain make me cry it’s so intense.

I’ve had paralysis of limbs for years now but now when it happens it’s not just paralysis it’s paralysis & pain off the chart.

Certainly makes it hard to deal with and symptoms getting worse month by month

Does this affect both arms? I had this with my right foot and I used the technique called mirror boxing to trick my brain. It really helped with swelling and pain.

Yes started out getting paralysed left leg them both legs then arms as well. No pain just couldn’t move them. Now if my arms are paralysed they are locked no way will they move pain is so intense I get a family member to move it brings me to tears and hand or Hands swell up like puddings takes hours for them to come down to right size

After arm has been moved takes 2 to 3 hours to go normal.

I could handle the paralysis but this arm pain is on a different level.

I’m so sorry to hear how you’re suffering. For me it’s neurological burning pain through most of my body like an electrical burn. Plus intense spine burning and pressure.

I replied because I was taking gabapentin and amiltryptaline as well. I found both of these medications to make my symptoms worse plus amiltryptaline I believe caused seizures. We all react to meds differently but worth considering if these meds are making things worse for you. Hope you find freedom from all of it one way or another. Know you’re not alone in suffering. Hugs

My conditions manifest as varied pains (some extreme) in arms, wrists, and hands. Severe burning in arms & hands also (classic CRPS), so I get where you're coming from. This often leads to mobility issues and loss of grip. Legs & feet join in sometimes to add to the fun.

Cooling with water can sometimes bring relief, and, get ready for this, cooling the scalp (with cool but not freezing water). I have in the past (and still occasionally) used Ketoprofen gel, although I limit it's use significantly.

I have no faith in Gabapentin or many others for neuropathic pain, and suffered severe side effects with Amitriptyline (although spent some time on Nortriptyline as an alternative). Having gone through a whole array of varied medication (sometimes at extreme doses), ultimately I have been withdrawn from all pain medication as none were effective which has at least given my liver and kidneys a little less to think about. See, every cloud etc.

Have a go at the cooling water thing. Nothing to loose & you don't need a prescription.
