Anyone here with FND but also Asthma? I have both and there seems to be an overlap so thought I would ask (:

Hi Rachh8

I have FND and asthma. I use Seretide 250 for my asthma. It was suggested at one point (because everything else was exhausted and eliminated) that it could be a build up of the steroid over the years so I went on just the ventolin inhaler for over six months and sure my asthma just got worse! Was taking the ventolin numerous times everyday :(

Plus the FND symptoms didn't dissipate. I went back to the seretide since last week and already an improvement with my asthma.

What do you mean about an overlap?

Hey thanks for replying that's very interesting. I wondered if the adrenals had some part to play in the FND situation. Is FND awareness day today by the way every year on the 13th of April! Anyway I'm not sure but I was wondering if that might be the case. But it sounds like if you've been on steroids for a while that it hasn't helped you FND. Is that fair to say do you think?

That I do not know but it could be a possibility!

If it is, I'm pretty much then stuck between a rock and a hard place!

FND symptoms didn't lessen on the ventolin which is a much lower dose and only a reliever.

I'm going to my GP in the morning to get my bloods tested for heavy metals and auto-immune disorder. Trying anything at this point as all other bloods have always come back normal!

I think it's more the brown inhaler that might help? But think that's the blue one right? I'm investigating. I also have autoimmune issues with skin I forget the name suspected hydransis or inflamed sweat glands.

Interesting!! Ya years ago I was on ventolin the blue one and the preventer brown one. My asthma got worse and my GP recommended Seretide, it has both reliever and preventer in one.

Please cure me! :)

I'm sure you realise by now I laugh about this a lot... It's the only way I've been able to cope!

Is today FND Awareness? I feel so special haha

You are! And it is (:

Yep today is FND awareness day!!!! :)

Haha I didn't see your reply before I replied!!

So, are you thinking my symptoms COULD be solely from asthma medication??

Not sure. But it's an interesting connection with adrenals maybe.

Let's keep researching so and if you find anything let me know!

What symptoms have you to deal with?

Yes, Rach,

Seasonal allergic asthma ( Pollen and funghi spores ). I use the beclometasone  ( brown ) steroid inhaler sparingly. I often need it with a cough/cold virus too. Now that you mention it, I will have to see what correlation there could be : ) x
