Mitomycin treatment

I have just had my week five session of my Mitomycin treatment, each week seems harder in respect of side effects of this six week program of treatment

Last week I had a lot of blood and debris a couple of hours after leaving hospital, but this week no blood just a dull ache and feeling tired.

I have one more session next week and then a review in six weeks. Weeks 1-3 of the treatment were straight forward, only real side effect was tiredness but then week four onwards has been much more noticeable

My journey started in August 2010 when I noticed blood in my water and I was seen in hospital within two weeks and then the tumour was removed

Since then I have had four reoccurrences the last in August, each time having a tumour removed

Hopefully the Mitomycin treatment will help and prevent reoccurrence

Interested to hear other people’s experiences

Hi I’m still having Mitomycin treatment- now monthly- previously weekly for 8 weeks. I’ve had 20 sessions now and have 21 to go. On my maintenance programme. It’s worked so far keeping tumours away - touch wood. That and looking after myself and diet. I’m basically written off for 4-6 days with tiredness and flu like symptoms it’s like hibernating. Some sessions slightly better or slightly worse but I’ve got used to clearing my schedule and taking time for myself. I hope your sessions work and keep any new growth away. Look after yourself and let the medicine do it’s work. Best wishes and good health!
