It was just over 5 years ago when I went to the bathroom and saw blood in the toilet bowl. I panicked and went to the ER, then to urologist. To shorten the story I had stage 3 muscle invasive bladder cancer with lymph involvement. My journey was a difficult one. Bladder was removed, donated to the Lindecker cancer research institute at UNC Chapel Hill. while in the hospital I had a pulmonary embolism. I needed chemo. Had 3 bouts of sepsis. Now 5 years later I will have a CT scan and if clean it will be my last. I have been blessed and I know it. I wear on ostomy pouch and it at times can be a challenge but I must add that it is great to be alive.
