I felt a stinging and had fresh blood so looked at my urethral opening with a little mirror, there was an unpleasant looking red lump peeping out from the hole. GP went quiet and referred me fast track to gynae, the consultant had a look, found more lumps that could be felt and referred me to Urology fast track, and I am having a flexible cystoscopy in two weeks.
I have been suffering from back ache and pains in my sides, ie kidney area for quite a long time, plus about six times a year I seem to get a urine infection, pain etc. so flush out by drinking loads of water, would these symptoms be connected? Sometimes I struggle to empty my bladder, sometimes I have to get to the loo every 20 mins or so yet feel like I've held it in for hours, that uncomfortable feeling.
The two Drs I have seen have gone a bit quiet so I haven't liked to ask too many questions but the questions are in my head waiting to be spoken, has anyone else experienced these symptoms? are they relevant?

I have been a regular visitor to the surgical day unit and never had a bad experience with any of the staff - they will tell you what you want to know with no bullshit. You are definitely in good hands in Southampton General
Dear Chrissie,my thoughts and very best wishes are with you,you should be tod if anything is found in your bladder on the day of your cystoscope also if you wish you should be able to watch on a screen. My cystoscopy was last Monday and a 2cm tumour was found after similar symptoms to yours since July 2014. I should be going in hospital for a transurethral resection of bladder and tumour removal.Take heart ,hopefully your problem will be lesser than mine, but GOOD news,I've been trough this with my husband,he was diagnosed 2009 1cm tumour,he had the op,amitomycin washout in bladder in hospital and then over a year of immunotherapy as an out patient,he is CANCER fREE just has a yearly check up,so always a light at the end of the tunnel, take care, thinking of you, hope all turns out well xx
Hi....sorry you suffering... I feel your pain... Have you been checked for UTI recently... The waiting is the worst and I know 2 weeks seems so far away still
not had any UTI tests but I did tell my Dr I was having problems with emptying my bladder and frequent urgent urges, he didn't seem at all concerned and was more worried by my cholesterol
Hi Chrissie good luck with your cystoscopy whatever is going on will show up on the monitor and the doctor will be honest. When I had mine a tumour showed up like a little flower as clear as day.If it is bad news the Macmillan nurses will be there for you and the treatment will be quick. All the very best take care
Thank you, I can see 1 lump coming out of the urethral opening, and the whole area is very lumpy, I guess they are looking for bladder involvement too, but its good to be able to chat in this community, I cant really talk about it at home as I'm told I am being silly for worrying and for reading up on the internet.
Thanks for your reply Chrissie it certainly helps talking to people who are going through the same thing. Its not silly to worry and we all make the mistake of googling stuff on the Internet.Whatever is going on the cystoscopy will give you answers.I really hope it's a good outcome,if not trust the doctor and nurses they will always do what's best for you.Stay positive take care
