Max - As you probably already know, last year's sickle call CRISPR "cure" was the blockbuster disease treatment announcement of the year. However, as this news piece announcing that discovery indicates, the cost of it is literally in another financial universe from that most of us lowly PCa patients live:

That said, I have seen commentaries stating that, in consideration of the lifetime medical costs for someone with sickle cell, the $2+ mil price-tag is not out of line.
There is also the as-yet-unknown issues related to SEs and secondary diseases brought on by the editing of the genome, not to mention the effects of the pre/post treatment regime. As with all new "breakthrough" treatments, there is much we do not know and widespread access will be a long time coming to the clinic down the street or even the center of excellence a bit farther away.

I have made two calculations....without the monthly exams they make me take, excluding the time that oncologists and nurses have to spend on me monthly, excluding the cost of the monthly Zometa and Decapeptyl (because I don't know their price), excluding the PSMA pet scan every 6 months (again because I don't know that cost)....each of the 6 docetaxel infusions costed 12,000 Eur to the national health system, and Darolutamide 6,000 eur every 4 weeks (in general, not in my case, as I am in a trial it seems), so excluding docetaxel it's 13 x 6,000 that makes 78,000/year for Daro alone...if we try to give some value to what I have excluded above I think I cost around 100,000 Eur per year at least...hopefully I will live for some years, let's make 5 years, it's already half million....I am not sure that an upfront pricey cure would not be better!
Or maybe they are betting against me!!!!!
