I phoned up for the forms to upgrade both my care and mobility components to the next level.I was told on the phone that they may be increased or removed alltogether depending on what the decision was !!! I currently have them indefinately as I had a brain heammorage but developed fibro only recently......I also suffer from severe anxiety and epilepsy both since my brain injury as well as permanent cognitive deficiencies.....But after that phone call I wonder if I should even bother applying as I am worried that the criteria may have changed so much that I end up with nothing!!! ...Any ideas anyone?

DLA upgrade due to condition deteriotion....
That is indeed a tricky question .. From reading your post I am assuming you want to be reassessed due to being diagnosed with fibro on top of the existing conditions you get . I do get dla but only for my arthritis ... My fibro they completely ignore... If your fibro is making your existing symptoms worse I would say claim .. If its the fact that your other symptoms have remained the same but you now have fibro with its symptoms that is the tricky thing because they ignore my fibro.... From the conditions you already have I would very much doubt that your dla would be reduced or stopped, so there is nothing to stop you reclaiming but please don't be surprised or upset if they ignore your fibro and say no change in dla allowance.
In September 2012 I called DWP as I too wanted to have the mobility component increased to the higher rate. They said exactly the same to me about it could go up or down. I think they do this to put people off claiming what is rightfully theirs. I did submit a new claim and was awarded Higher Rate Mobility. I must stress that this was due to a back condition and not my fibro.
I would be careful as its so near the date for implementing PIP. As you have DLA indefinitely at present, you won't need to apply for PIP until after October 2015. The criteria for getting PIP Higher Rate Mobility has changed considerably. If you can walk over 20 metres you won't get the higher rate (it is currently over 50m I believe).
Hope it all sorts itself for you.
My condition has been progressively worse for 2 years. I rang at the time and was told the same. I was too frightened to go any further with my quest for reassessment....My daughter should be able to claim carers as I certainly could not live without her help. She comes every morning to get me out of bed and showered and dressed. My other daughter lives with me and sees to my needs throughout the night. Neither of them gain any money from helping and I feel ashamed that I haven't the guts or energy to fight for mine and their rights....
Dear Philmeaster,
Reading your message, I just would like to share with you.., I am now suffering from ''Chiari Malformations'', (pressure in the brain through soinal cord) it seems like what MDaisy just put in the information ..., I called the DWP as I am now housebound, they told me the same..but I am going to still have them assessed me again, if my condition is getting worse, so If I were you..I would let them test you again, as they can not take your right of your existing condition, now you are getting worse , you should be getting your GP support as well to back your new claim, I hope this help.
