Name is Ali and I am a 58 yr old Mum and grandmum. Always been a stay at home Mum doing part time jobs to fit around kids. Always been a childminder, nanny/housekeeper, mentor, lay counsellor and of late helper of elderly people with a little housework and companionship.

Member of local am dram mostly as theatre organisor or stage manager (I do not act) I was ever one of those people who joined a lot of committees and organised charity events etc. Had to cut down on that now, couldn't stage manage a fart in a paper bag these day!!!r !

Have four grown up children and one 12yr old grandson.

Hub is a counsellor and supervisor of counsellors and I am very proud of him. He started college in his early forties and has since got a degree and a whole raft of qualifications and is now out on his own with a practice after taking early retirement from his day job.

As a counsellor he sometimes comes across patients with fibro (I can give him plenty of input there)

I am bit of an old hippy, you would find a lot of interesting clutter and books in my house.

Have been diagnosed with fibro for about five years now but it took a long time and a lot of trips to docs and clinics to get here.

I am a poet and I believe that writing down what is in your head is sooooo important. I have had two years of counselling therapy myself and cannot recommend it highly enough.

My motto for life is now "IT DOESN'T MATTER, DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF"

We like when people land in the group with no warning ... Not so good for you as you must have fibro to be here and none of of want it at all.... In fact I,d quite happily give mine away ... I even have a suitable subject should the chance ever arise... ;)

Always nice to have new people though...

hi ali, welcome to the site. You sound a lot like myself in background, hippiness etc. I was interested to read you are a poet, i`m an artist. Do you have days when its difficult to be creative? When i think of all the `greats` who have had really horrid things wrong with them, it spurs me on a bit ..... i wonder how many other artistic folk there are on this site, shall we invite them to speak up? xx
