I have aches and pains all over but in particular this last month my right shoulder and arm is very painfull. I have bought myself an infrared lamp. I hope it's going to have a good effect. Does anyone else use one?

Hi Very-Grumpy,

Embarrassed. Did you notice that I had commented on that blog. I had completely forgot that I had red that blog and got the idea from there to get an infrared lamp. I suffer from brain fog and make a fool of myself often. I'm glad that it is this site and I'm with people who understand.

Gwen

Lol I went and found the thread and didnt notice you had commented on it I will join you in the brain fog corner.... If we can find it in all the fog :)

I'd forgotten all about this. :(

The weather man did say there was going to be fog, and he was right. :D

I did read the thread and could remember bits of it, but most of it had gone.

Umm - do you find your lamp helpful, Nekcarb?

I've just used it for the first time. It was lovely, certainly relaxed me. It's hard to say if it is actually healing, watch this space. I've also bought some magnesium malate malic acid tabs and some epsom salts for the bath. Somethings got to work. At the moment can't really do any housework, even cooking dinner is difficult, I had to stand on a stool so that I didn't have to lift my arm to stir anything.

Oh thank you all, you have made my day, I'm not the only one whose Fog can be thicker and thicker on some days. I think I did post on the other one Gwen and it was lovely to see your name, it was my mother's too ......... wishing she was still here ! I did find the lamp helpful, and hope you do too.

Btw I've just posted 3 times on the same post lalalala ......the Fog in Devon is particularly thick at the moment !!!

Glad you posted this nekcarb as I have neck and shoulder spasms.. So my question how did you sit comfortably with the lamp facing your shoulder and arm and where did you position the lamp ... Just wondering if you managed it easily and if it would be better than a hot wheatbag I use at the moment????

So far I've only treated the back of the shoulder. The lamp I've got is an anglepoise type, hopefully that will help manoeuvre into the correct position for the front shoulder, upper arm and top quarter of chest, that is where most of the problem seems to be. I may have to find myself some sort of face shield.

I also have very swollen joints on my finger's. I don't know if that is fibro or plain arthritis. Do you think I could use the lamp on them?

Moffy is the best person to answer the fingers question .i,ll ask her thanks for answering though that's a help knowing what sort of lamp you have

Ah, yes the dreaded arthritis - I don't think fibro gives you swollen joints, but lots of fibro sufferers have arthritis, too!

I have lumpy swollen fingers, and I find heat very soothing, especially moist heat, but I'm sure your lamp would work very well. I might try one myself!

I knew you would know moffy I only have common osteo arthritis while you being greedy have both ;)

Hi Moffy,

Is there anything else you can suggest for my poor old knuckles they are very red, swollen and tender at the moment and what with the painful arm and shoulder I feel a little good for nothing. I can't even have a good drink with my friends because that definitely inflames them even more. I'm not very good on ibrufen, gives me the ulcerated stomach.

I was able to use my anglepoise Infrared lamp on my front of shoulder and chest. Very relaxing. Feel a bit better this morning, may be psychological though.
