hiya kids, well been for my atos assessment today. Appointment 1.35pm, seen at 2.20pm. Lady was nice. When I filled in the atos manual/book, I enclosed all relevant paperwork, ie: various reports from Drs, rheumy, etc but I don't think the nursy lady read it beforehand, so even though I spent nearly 2 weeks filling it in, I think it was ignored. So the questioning began, can you tell me how your normal day starts. Point 1- I don't have normal days, well can you tell me whats the 1st thing you do when you get up, if I can get up out my pit one of two things, you choose, besides reaching for the painkillers. Can you make yourself tea/coffee, no because I can't bloody lift the kettle. Are you able to shower, ERM No, can you was yourself, only with a flannel and then on a good day (don't worry girls and boys I don't smell like a wheelie bin), how far are you able to walk, I can't without somebody with me, well how did you get here (felt like saying airdropped like a red cross parcel, but bit my tongue), so said my partner who took the day off work here with me helped me, does he work full-time, what's that got to do with you madam. Are you able to make meals, no, then how do you eat during the day, cereal, that's why ive lost 1stone in 6months not because I'm nipping the gym for a couple of hours a day (I wish). Then she gave me the once over, can you lift your arms over your head, only when I'm doing cartwheels, can you lift your legs, ffs woman I ain't Olga bloody Corbet. Regarding the recording of assessment, I forgot to call and ask for it, but wasn't allowed to record it myself, forms to sign blah blah blah, in case I sent it to a 3rd party. So all in all, went OK, but there sly and snide. Just have to wait now to see what the job enter says. Love to you all and thank you for all your advice and wise words. X /x

Hi Joe
I'm so glad you got through it ok but it sounds like it was still a bit of an ordeal for you.
Fingers crossed you are successful.

Hello Joe
Really hope that you are successful too. The 'process' is disgusting... and so impersonal.

Don't hold your breath waiting for them to let you know, I had mine in Dec and I'm still waiting. DLA managed to get something out of them, enough to turn it down so guessing that's a no to ESA too when they eventually get round to letting me know. I'm not being synical here but could they just be waiting to get past that date when it all changes??? I'm psychic, cos I know what it's gonna say!
Oooo peppersoo, what's the lottery numbers for euro millions roll over, we'll split it 50/50, x x
Mine actually admitted she didn't get a copy of any of my papers before the assessment - they have no information about you whatsoever apart from your name and all the questions they ask are generated by the computer. They also have no input into the decision making process - she told me that too. Mine must have been quite new at the job because she had to keep going out to find out what to type into the computer.
I hope you get a better outcome than I have.
