Hello Linlit, thank you for your message.
Tai Chi, Yoga and gentle swimming is recommended for people with Fibromyalgia. The most important thing to remember is to take it slowly, gently and carefully so that we don't escalate our pain and other symptoms after the event. Don't overdo it or push yourself too hard, just do a small session and slowly build up. The minute you feel any resistance or feel over tired then stop.
Also make sure you rest fully after any activity and pace yourself. This is vitally important when introducing a new activity.
Before starting any new activity, please seek advice from your GP who can advise you about this.
It sounds like you may have overdone it Linlit, make sure you rest to recover. Perhaps next time seek medical advice and take it much slower for a lesser time too. Take it very gently and you should reap the benefit this way.
Take care. (((hug))) xxx

it was under medical advice and taught by a doctor i find it very good and never over do it but i find it very relaxing u never do movements that make ur pain worse as i said it is very hard to explain
Tai Chi is great, mediation does help, the pain remains but you can learn to relax better.
hello, i was thinking if tai chi but i can not find a beginners class near me. what area are you in? is it on the nhs? thank you
i live in thanet in kent it is called tai chi for people with disabilitys it is through nhs and u have to be refered by gp or pain clinic
Hello Adapting, it is possible to practice Tai Chi through the NHS but it seems dependent on the area you live in. It would be advisable to speak to your GP about this to see if you have this facility near you and can be referred.
Hope this helps.
