I'm not sure if it counts as non stimulating but I often pop on this forum to see if there are any questions that need answering or anybody who needs help. I have just started card making too so I will plan out a card in my head to make the next day. Hope that helps! Jane x

I read my book or lately while Paul is at work i will listen to my classical music before i go to bed. I will often text with him as well on his break and that helps me .xx

I read my Kindle! Although it's reading, it doesn't feel like concentrating and really relaxes me too! :) xxx

I read too, nothing like it for falling asleep for me but ladygreenfingers, im curious to know how you get on with card making having fibro? I too am toying with the idea of jewellery making or similar but am concerned that it may be too fiddly or my fingers wont work...any advice please? x

Charlii, I have a whole dining room that has been transformed into a lovely craft room full of wonderful crafting stash.....in general my crafting has literally helped me keep my sanity. There are times during bad flares I have to leave it for a while, but then I look forward to getting back to it & plan projects to do wen I am able to get back to it. Due to this stupid FND on top of fibroflare I haven't been able to even get into my craft room for 3 months & my sanity is rapidly disappearing :( my main goal at the moment is to improve enuff to get crafting again!! What sort of craft things are you interested in....obviously if you have arthritis in your hands jewellery making or crochet would be very difficult, but card making/scrapbooking/art journalling would be great. Have got some bits & pieces I could send you if you fancy giving it a try. Gentle hugs xx

Hi Charlii, my hands are not too bad once the initial morning stiffness wears off. Sitting in a chair is my problem! I tend to work in 10 minute shifts as I can't sit upright for longer than that. Cards are quick to make though so don't take a great deal of time. I have used YouTube videos to teach myself the techniques and bought a joblot of used stuff from eBay to get me started. Createandcraft TV channels are great for ideas and products too. PM me if you want any ideas or tips. I am enjoying being creative again. Me, the lounge and the dog seem to be permanently covered in glitter ;-) Jane x

I too make cards and struggle with the sitting so it shifts between that and sitting on the bed with the laptop. but. haven't made anything in over a month due to carpal tunnel. it's only as fiddly as you make it as there are so many techniques, but I was intrigued to read that cards are quick to make! I don't think I've ever made anything quickly. lol it's quick if you have everything all prepared in advance but even then a card can take me a whole day, sometimes even longer.

I can't watch create and carft as it's just about selling, but YouTube has some great ideas and techniques.

it's a great hobby but can become a costly one.

a great way to start is to buy a craft magazine that contains freebies, it then gives examples of cards made with them.

one thing with crafting, there are no rules and that's the best as you can just do your own thing.

have fun, it's very therapeutic. xx

Sorry about your carpel tunnel Fibro, I had never heard of that until recently but I now know lots of people who suffer from it. By 'quick' I did mean a whole day ;) Like you, I plan things in my head and then work in shifts. As a novice everything takes much longer too as I have to keep covering my mistakes. I tend to record Create & craft tv and then fast forward to the demos so I miss all the sales stuff ;)

I have been working on a project involving carpet glue and tumble dryer sheets today - great fun but my hands are all glue and glitter and it won't come off! I learn everything the hard way it seems.

Great tip about freebies with mags! Thanks. Jane x

that sounds like great fun. what have you been making? do you use the tumble dryer sheets as ink pads by using liquid in on them? no idea about the carpet glue you must tell me.

i went to see a psychiatrist the other day, purely my own choice but i needed his opinion on my medication as i take rather a cocktail and he said keep yourself busy. so when i cant craft i sit on the bed online. theres tons out there in blogland and youtube, but thats a great idea recording and winding forward.

my aim this weekend is to make at least some simple xmas cards, its so frustrating not being able to do much.

let me know how you get on getting messy lol xxx

I get the audio cd's from the library and listen to them in bed. Someone reading you a bedtime story is bliss.

If I am not up to my kindle, I often play solitaire on my phone in bed and quite often fall asleep in the middle of a game.
