That seems to be the answer to everything but they haven't got a clue ! i too have arthritis in my hips but mine is due to an inborn defect but they still say if you weighed less it would be easier to which i feel like saying well if you had diagnosed it at birth instead of too late @ 29 i wouldn't be like this , take care and do your own thing xx

I too suffer with weight gain and have been frustrated but thabkfully i did find something to help and so far i have lost a stone through it and only done housework as fitness and it was down to cutting my portions down being sensible about treats and drinking lots of water but the real magic is from the hairy bikers diet book. Such scrummy wholesome food and often i substitute carbs like potatoes rice and pasta oh and chips to veg instead but once a week we have sweet potatoe wedges yum yum yum! Be worth giving it ago.

My partner Paul used to be 19 stone and he got down to 12.5 stone, due to settling into our relationship we both put on 2 st and struggled untill we got that book, he has lost it all but then he can walk the dog 6 miles 3/4 times a week.

Please give it a look especially if like me you have a love of food. Take care honeys xxxx

It is hard when the doc says loose weight, mine told me 18 months ago I was obese. Well I am not now and I was in a very bad stage of vibro but pain or no pain I have taken a little walk every day. It is hard and it hurts but I can either throw my hands up and get bigger or I can take control and do the only thing that works which is eat less and better foods and do more. In the 18 months I have lost three dress sizes. Now the doc was wrong as the pain has not got better but worse but I feel and look better in myself to be a size 16 now.

Much as I would like to say ignore the doc we all now that although it is hard to do we are the ones who have the choice to take control and loose the weight or not.

Like Rachie, I have swapped snacks and carbs for veg and I eat as much as I used to just changed what I eat.

Good luck hunni and you can do it just takes a lot longer than the able bodied and rather than diet it means total change in the way you look and feel about foods. xx

i saw my rheumatologist on monday and he said i should lose weight.so told him i HAVE lost weight in arms legs and bottom and the only reason my weight has increased over time IS due to the size of the cyst/Tumour in my abdomen.(as yet totally ignored by doctors who wont listen to me and refuse to refer me to a gynae)and taht i am unable to eat much cos of invasion of my stoamch space and i exercise wlaking my digs every day for up to 2 hour sin total,i cannot cope with this pain anymore as limpomas and fatty painful areas have spread from head to toe.i love my dogs and it is stressing them out.

I joined a local slimming world group in June after gaining 3 stone due to medication but mostly comfort eating i guess. Ive lost 2 stone I still need another stone off to get to my normal weight , I've not been able to do any exercise while trying to slim down but have chopped & changed medication , I've just had a big flare up in the last week and feel as terrible as I did whilst being at my heaviest I certainly don't feel any fitter or healthier only I can fit in to all my nice clothes again. I have a couple of friends who are 5/ 6 stone heavier than myself and I would love to have their energy and lifestyle ! It's seems to be the first thing doctors comment on as well as smoking and drinking ( which I don't do ) is it just easier or quicker for them to make out its a possible cause of all our problems and give us more pills than trying to come up with some real solutions?

I too lost 3 and a half stone with slimming world but found my pain didn't improve although the pain in my feet did which must have been due to the weight loss. Unfortunately I've got a food addiction and have put a stone back on very quickly which is very demoralising,I walk my dogs and I go to the gym every week but I've only to eat a few more biscuits and it flies back on. I'm working through a book on food addiction which I hope might help me as I really don't want to end up back where I was. Life is not easy for us fibromites.

Even when I hit 20 stone a few years back my GP never mentioned my weight. But I lost 7 stone over two years. The problem I now have is keeping the weight on as COPD causes weight loss and they recommend increasing the calories. I cannot win. But I wish you luck with the op and if you choose to lose weight, should you need to, then you will do it in your own time without having to be told xxxxx

I was 16 stone rather than my average 18 when I got this rotten thing. Have been there since as I couldn't eat due to unexplained abdominal pain. The doctor I had then said it was marvellous! Put on a stone when I started eating again and then another stone a couple of months ago when I could barely move for the pain. At that point a different doctor told me it would be easier and less painful if I lost some weight! Um durrrrr! I only gained the weight as the pain was so bad I needed stronger painkillers. I think I have lost it again now.
