I have bladder problems, where I have symptoms of urinary infections, and bleeding. I was referred to urology, where they did a test called a cystoscopy (thankfully it showed my bladder was okay) I have to go back again in January for more tests, but was told i have an overactive bladder and i am taking a tablet called Oxybutin, which should stop the need to go to the toilet so often. I may have intestial cystitis, (another problem which is fibro related) You have all the horrible symptoms of an urinary infection, but all the tests are negative.

I refuse to be seen by the urologists registrar due to the way he spoke to me and so hopefully my request to be seen by the Lady Doctor, who carried out the cystoscopy will be allowed. She was lovely and so sympathetic and understanding.

I hope this may have answered your question.

Gentle Hugs

I have had the same experienjce to bonnielass except I couldnt take oxybutin so was put on trospium chloride, This worked well for a while but then at times I went into retension so stopped taking them so back to the problem of being wet and leaking. Went back to the continance nurse and she advised trying a herbal remedy but it hasnt worked either. She is going to see me again in a month and if I want to I can go back on the trospium chloride but would need to learn how to use a catheter for the times that I go into retension so I am thinking about what I want to do. All my bladder tests come back normal but as I have functional neurological disorder this is not surprising. Hope you get sorted x

i suffered from i.c for donkeys years(before fibro) to try to cut a long story short(and believe me it is a hell of a long story) in 2008 the urologist decided to do a cysectomy at the age of 40 ,because of the incessant pain "down there" so i have to wear urostomy pouches for the rest of my life now which i was prepared to do as long as this b***y pain was got rid of, that however did not happen i have to this day pain down there, also you are more prone to water infections after having the op and that is for life, so i personally no better off and was told i have to " learn to live with it", Years ago i used to find having a drug put through a catheter tube(which in itself was a painful experience) helpful, it was put inside you from a syringe , it was called D.M.S.O and although painful to administer it would help the bladder a lot, my brother had overactive bladder probs and he was shown by a specialist at the hospital, how to retrain his brain, which seemed strange but several months on he is 80% improved

i will ask him more about it and if poss let you know

I have been having a lot problems just recently, but my gp keeps fobbing me off. I am going to the loo very frequent and i find i get a sudden urge to need to go, not much warning at all? I don't know if it is fibro? but that's what i have been putting down too?

I was told an irritable bladder is a symptom of fybro. I always need to go and often feel I am on the verge of a getting an infection if you know what I mean, but don't!

It is not unusual for me to get up three or four times after I have gone to bed, more if I am pre-menstrual! Unfortunately I think it is one of those annoying symptoms we have to put up with, unless of course it is an infection when you would need to act on it.
