Got my phone call on the 26th Oct saying I've been called in for a medical on the 5th Oct at 9am, but be 10 minutes early...Today I got the letter,I know this medical centre as I've been there before for DLA medicals but I could never sit down as the chairs are to low down for someone with back problems,so I rang the number I 've been given & asked can I bring my high chair ( which I got from the OT's at the hospital) I was told Yes,so I asked about, the medical been taped ,no they dont do that BUT if you want to get the proper equipment at your own expence you can...What,do they think I'm made of money ?? So this time next week it will all be over...My neck & back have already gone into spasm with stress, there is nothing I can do till its over.I'm picking up my GP's letter on Wednesday. And over the week-end I will be photo copying all the doctors reports and bring in the x-rays of a private MRI scan I had done because the waiting list on the NHS was 12 months!!
I WILL be wearing my support back belt plus my Tents machine plus the splints the hospital made for my hands. Thank God my daughter is coming with me.
I am scared sh1tless,I don't know what to expect and I was a nurse for 20 years,but its NOT a medical as we know medicals is it ? Its to see if I can work with a back injury back ,fibromyalgia,ostoarthritis, and a underactive thyroid....I know all I can know of Fibromyalgia, the website healthlibrary.stanford.edu is very good.

Also sending you lots of good luck and positive thoughts plus (((((((((very gentle hugs)))))))))). Thankfully your daughter is going with you because you really do need a witness, especially given some of the "fiction" that is often written by the person doing the medical. Also remember if they ask you to do any exercises which you know/feel you can't do then please tell them and do not push yourself. Will be thinking of you next week. I am just waiting to hear whether I also have to go back in for a "medical". I also have osteoarthritis, fibro, lipoedema and overlying lymphoedema, ibs, gallstones (I know.....how greedy can one person be lol).
Some advice i saw said not to carry a handbag as that means in their eyes you could do that at work also if you go looking well groomed you dont get as many points as they deem you capable of dressing appropriately etc. My friend had one recently and won but she was in such a state by the time the doctor saw her all she could do was cry andthats what was on the report. Good luck im waiting to hear about my appeal.
Thank you all for your comments.My daughter it now turns out was only going to drop me off at medical,so I told her the God's honest truth.If I lose this medical,thats the house gone plus I wont be able to pay the bills and you know your Dad is down £600 in his wages due to ,no overtime & no shift allowences....she texted back telling me I was nasty !!...I told her I have come from been a workaholic to living on what the goverment allows me to live on ,I'm in pain24/7....But suddenly its all about her, and her problems. So my hubby is taking a unpaid day off to come with me,he's the only one who does know my conditions.
enazena..I to have ibs and have had my gallbladder removed,I also have weakness on my left side & my balances is rubbish,I tend to walk beside the wall for support.
aroha2aloha..Yes,I know about the hand bag,the make up ( which I don't wear) the pierce earrings etc. I will have a shower the day before (when hubby home from work as I tend to fall in bathroom ) I am not going to hairdressed to have hair dyed,or going to beauty salon to have eyebrows done,and I will not be wearing good clothes,I will be wearing a elesticated pain of jogging pants with a rather large t-shirt & shoes I can slip on & off,and if the spasms in my back get so bad I tend to take my bra off & put on a camasol.
