Has anyone any advice on how to fill in a d l a form, please? :-)
Hmmm well if you have any other illnesses as well as fibro eg arthritis etc put them first and write as you feel on your worst day then add your fibro last... I am only saying this as the dla peeps seem to ignore fibro... I get lowest rate dla and no mobility despite being unable to drive go out unaided on my mob scooter or look right and walk with two sticks the only reason I get dla is because I have arthritis in both hands ... I really think the dla peeps think that's the only part of my body I have cos the rest seems to be totally irrelevant...
I always give my gp and pain clinic consultant as references .... They have never been contacted
Lots of peeps on here get the c.a.b. to help and there are links on here to help too...
Sorry not to be too helpful but lots of members on here have been refused any dla recently so I count myself lucky I have any at all.
Somebody else will probably post shortly being more helpful
Good luck with your claim

go to FibroAction site,
click on fibro and benefits
this should take you to the benefits and work link where you can download the pdf booklet that helps you fill in forms for ESA & DLA. good luck. sandra
Go to CAB and get help filling the form out as they know exactly what you need to put down.
Also if you get turned down appeal as my solicitor says most people do win their appeals.
Good luck

Hi one of the most important things is to put down how long it actually takes to do something. e.g. if you get up in the night to go to the toilet how long does it really take to get up or get help to get up, 5 mins say, plus getting undressed & toileted 5 mins, getting back into bed 5 mins, trying to settle back 10 mins so your total would be 20 - 25 mins how many times a night? We are too quick to minimise the time it takes to do things. If you walk up stairs how long does it take, how long do you have to rest afterwards 30 mins etc. Im not sure if it helps but taking your time answering every question even if you repeat the same thing over and over is really important. As already suggested getting a social worker etc to help fill the form out for you really helps to. Remember to tell them what a strain it is to complete a form such as this and how you had to take several attempts if doing it yourself, level of fatique, brain fog etc. I get middle rate care and mobility component. I am new here so hope this helps a little XH
I agree with XHelp.... we dont really acknowledge the time it takes to do "normal" day or night things... especially if we have a "better" day but on worse days our minds dont really take it in as its just focusing and concentrating on trying to achieve what is necessary. Good luck. x
