Hi Jane - this sounds like something else - perhaps arthritis - but fibro can be

so unpredictable. May be think about seeing your doc just in case.

Good luck

Hi, I have loads of pain in my hands and was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel 6 years ago brought on by pregnancy! I have put up with it ever since and finally have an appointment to see a surgeon on 3 October. Don't put up with it like I did, go and see your Dr for a diagnosis. Hope you get it sorted soon xx

This is exactly how my pain started a year ago - it took several months for the pain to start popping up in my legs, arms, and back. Get checked out for other conditions - fibro is unfortunately a diagnosis of exclusion - they may want to run blood tests, do an ultrasound or MRI of your hands & wrists, etc., but yes, it could be fibro, if nothing else is amiss.

I have had pain in both hands and feet for over a year now had all tests nothing shown up put down to fibro. Even the painkillers don't help however i found the tens machine helps a little by putting pads on the bottom of my wrists. Tenpen xx

i initially had loads of pain in my hands and my fingers would swell. nothing showed on an xray but i had to have my wedding ring cut off, but it did lead me to being referred to a rheumatologist who diagnosed fibro. he actually read all my prev notes from pain clinic, physio etc and realised i did have a problem!! but all he really did was put a name to it. i have been suffering from and taking meds for it for years. but over the past three weeks my my right hand developed pins and needles, expecting it to go in a day i just left it then realised it had gone on far to long and stayed hanging around mainly in my thumb and index finger, so actually went to the GP about it.

He must be fed up with me, but i tend to write out what i want to say and give him a copy so if i forget anything its there in black and white for him to read later lol but he has been good, he sent me for an xray on my neck as it could be that as i have suffered neck problems for years which i believe cause the pain in my shoulder too, but if the joints are wearing they could be pinching the nerves, so not really sure what they can do, but he is also sending me for some nerve conductive tests to check to see if its carpal tunnel. its more than just pins and needles now as there is numbness and as i'm not using my fingers properly its causing extra pain on my hand

Im not convinced this has anything to do with fibro at all, luckily they haven't just had it blamed it on that as often thats what happens to many on here.

Im finding typing on an ipad easier than a keyboard.

I hadnt thought of the tens machine, that might help me thanks. i have a small one somewhere i bought from boots. xxx

Hi

It sounds like it could be carpel tunnel as that only affects the thumb and next two fingers and half the ring finger. I have just had my second wrist operated on an feel so much better. The conductive tests are quite strange but I got my results on the day.

Lots of luck and hugs xxxxxxx
