After using BuTrans patches for over 12 months and having really good results in the beginning, I have had to change them. The patches were literally burning my skin and now my arms are very badly scarred but I put up with it for the pain relief. As this allergy started I was getting more joint pain as I suffer from arthritis too. Its in myback hips knees and now ankles so had to up my Meloxicam as well. So yesterday had to decided to change my patches. Now if anyone else is suffering with reactions to Butrans will know these patches are huge poss about 3inch square. So you can imagine how big the marks off them are as I react to the adhesive as well as the product. I have changed to a Fentanyl patch and was stunned when I saw them, in fact I thought the pack was empty. They are tiny and clear, about the size of a thumb nail! The dosage is different and have found one wasn't strong enough so have 2 on. Pain is much better today had to take no extra tablets for the first time in weeks. The only thing is I have been a bit on the warm side which may be a slight side effect but I am not moaning lol
Just wanted to share this in case anyone else is suffering with bad side effects

SORRY TO BE BEARED OF BAD NEWS BUT THOSE PATCHES ARE SO DANGEROUS, I WOULD CHANGE IF I WERE YYOU. mY PARTNER HAD THESE FOR A WHILE AND ONE NIGHT HE AWOKE WITH THESE AWFULL SHIVVERS AND THEN WENT ON TO HAVE A MOST SEVERE PANICK ATTACK BECAUSE OF THE PAIN HE WAS IN AND WAS DIZZY AND FAINTING AND WE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL , THEY COULD FIND NTHING WRONG WITH HIM, hE WAS FALLING IN AND OUT OF CONCIOUSNESS AND THEN KEPT SAYING THAT HE WAS DIEING, i JUS TFEEL AS THOUGH MY TIME IS COMING AND LATER WENT ON TO SAY HE WAS GOING IN AND OUT OF WHITENESS. NOTHING BUT WHITNESS? aND HE REALLY THOUGHT HE WAS DYING.
A WEEK LATER MY SON CALLED FROM A TRAIN SAYING HE JUST READ THAT A WOMAN HAD DIED DUE TO A FENTANYL PATCH. hE CAME OFF THEM STRAIGHT AWAY.
tHE PAPER WENT ON TO DAY THAT THE LADY HAD GOT INTO THE BATH AND WITH THE HEAT ALL THEMEDICATION RUSHED TO HER BODY ALL AT ONCE AND KILLED HER. HE WENT ON TO READ MORE ABOUT THEM, YOU CAN NOT STAY OUT IN THE SUN WITH THEM OR GET VERY HOT WITH THEM, OR OF COURSE GET INTO THE BATH WITH THEM. tHE A FEW WEEKS AGO A YOUNG BOY OF 19 DIED COS OF THE FENTANYL PATCH AGAIN, HE GOT INTO THE BATH.
MY PARTNER HAD HAD A BATH THE NIGHT OF THE HOSPITAL AND BOY WERE WE LUCKY FOR HIM TO HAVE WALKED HOME FROM THAT.TERRIBLE NIGHT
tHEY A 100 TIMES STRONGER THAT MORPHINE AND VERY DANGEROUS, PLEASE RECONSIDER YOUR MEDS.
THE DOCTORS DONT TELL YOU ABOUT THE AFFECTS THEY HAVE, OUR DOC,BLESS HIM W ELOVE HIM, BUT STILL HE NEVER GAVE ANY OF THE INFO ABOUT THE SUN AND HEAT AND WATER, HE JUST SAID BE CAREFUL THEY ARE VERY VERY STRONG.
\GOD WAS TRUELLY ON OUR SIDE THAT DAY.
GOD BLESS
HUGS
GERRY
I was on fentanyl patches for 5 years without problems sadly some medicines or patches have side effects on some people n not others. It does tell u about staying out of sun in info as I clearly remember changing where I placed them when I was on holiday. I too had problems with butrans patches the fact they had to stay on for 7 days didn't help n tore my skin on chest n back as that was only place they were to born back long ago when I had them Fentanyl only have to b worn for 3 days n as u say are time in comparison n clear so much more descreet although fentanyl is much more stronger than morphine the dosage is calculated accordingly n low dose age started although I wudnt put 2 on without ur dr knowing as started low for a reason becos they r much stronger than butrans patches. Gerry I'm
Thanks for all comments. Yes I know how heat effects these patches so I am very careful and Gerry it must have been such an ordeal for you and thanks for your concerns. So far so good just changed them over so very happy with them at the moment. Can't get over how small they are compared to BuTrans .
