Havn't been well again today, so when I finally awoke and got up I phoned my Gp's for an appointment for tomorrow afternoon and got told 'no appointments available untill next week! no emergency appointments!,' What about the on-call doctor, told nothing i ended up asking if I have to know in advance when I'm going to be ill to make an appointment!

I said well I'm going to have to call out the doctor instead then and was told i could speek to the on-call dr to which I said It wont be any use to him or me over the phone as he can't see my problem and as I suffer from long term ill health its a wste of a call, i really do need to see someone!!

But what really amazes me is suddenly if I call first thing at 8am-usually after 9am-

i will be able to make an appointment for tomorrow pm!

Which brings me to my question, I know I have read on here that some off you have suffered with dry eyes and dry mouths but with this does anyone suffer with stinging swollen face, eyes and neckto varying levels i also get sore ears and throat. the swelling varys in size and places around my face/neck also i know our muscles ache with FM but does anyone suffer particulary with the side of your breast , underarm and moving down inside of arm with tenderness?

I have a regular yearly mamogram and have mentioned this but the tenderness is spreading and getting worse to the point i cant lean on my left side.

Sorry its a long read.

Thanks Lynn, I do suffer with arthritis in my shoulder and need regular injections for it as well as spondalitis in my kneck. I will ask my dr about this.

To be honest the actual doctors are brilliant its the pharmasists and receptionist who cause the problems. It was so bad at one point the doctors put a commplaints book in reception -which was filled!- and its the same practice manager. She is always having 'conversations' with patients, which is why i said i would call the dr out as as you say they are obligated to have appointments set aside each day.

Myofascial pain is a common complication with many painful or tension related conditions. Your back and neck problems could be contributing to making this area of myofascial pain worse.

I have a wonderful gp and my carer informed her that i was too scared to phone for apptsbecause of the treatment i was receiving from the front office. she was very angry with them and all I know is they are now far kinder and more accommadating to me. tell your doctor if the give you up hill. petal

Swelling is not Fibro. If you are getting a visibly swollen face, this is not Fibro, so please do get this thoroughly checked out.

hi lynsey, i remember you telling me this on my previous blog, its just taken me this long to get fed up with this 'new' ailment and get it looked into. I am soooooo fed up of the swelling and burning stingy sensation in my face!

i have 8 seperate conditions that together make me quite a mess, but I do tend to put up with things untill i feel i need to go and see my lovely gp. i have to rely on someone getting me to and fro, to wash and dress me etc it feels too much of an effort to drag myself to more medical probes etc it can feel never ending with all the scans, tests and clinics!

might be worth checking your meds. i had incresing pain in my arms a few yrs ago drove me to the point of tears - turns out i was allergic to diclofenic. 3 weeks after stopping no more pain.

Hope yours is something similar (i have things crossed)

fondest hugs

xx

I've no medical training but since westgate took the risk, it did occur to me that the swelling could be allergy to meds or something else. Funny enought it was diclofenic too. Now any kind of NSAID givens me swollen hands and feet and if it's bad enough to effect my liver function, I get very itchy skin too.

Appts at my GPs are a joke there are some on the day appts every day but you can never get through on the phone and have to go and stand outside - up here that can be in -10 with babies and people in wheelchairs etc. It meets the letter of the requirements, but not the spirit!
