snap.sadly i have both, and am not doing to well,i have alot to learn about FM and am still trying to get my head around it all ,how ever i think being on here is a good start !!i joined today x
I have both, Ive got oa in my spine knees and hips
I have both too! I had Osteoathritis for ten years before I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, CFS/ME (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) over three years ago. My Fibro meds seem to help my Osteoarthritis too fortunately.
I have both and had to have my first hip replacement at 41 now the other hip needs doing, but I just don't think I can cope with it. I have had 6 major hip ops, plus many not so major ones since birth and I'm getting weaker and weaker, obviously due to FM, so to go through more major surgery is going to be a huge battle for me. I'm not looking forward to it.
Libbydee... If you don't mind me asking what fibro meds are you on as I'm wondering if there's anything else I can try to help the pain in my hip as I am trying to put off having it replaced for as long as I possibly can.
Thanks xx ((hugs))
Hi paradise, thanks...
I have been trying to reply but kept getting logged out
I am wanting my other hip replaced but am putting it off for as long asi can.
For fibro I take gabapentin 2400 mg and amitriptyline 40 mg along with 8 x500 mg paracetamol, and 240 mg of dihydrocodeine and now gp has doubled the Lorazepam to help with anxiety and depression. I wasn't sure if I was taking the right thing to stave off the arthritis pain in my hip to keep me going that bit longer . I am scared to go back into hospital as I also have severe obstructive sleep apnoea nd have to use a CPAP machine every night and that has to go into the hospital with me. So if I can carry on longer I will. I know from my last hip replacement that the after pain was awful. It may remove the bone pain, but with FM its the muscular pain and ack of strength that scares me. I don't go back to the hospital until September so I have until then to think about it. I go every year have have been all my life after being born with a dislocated hip. So to some extent FM has been with me all my life, but they never gave a name to it. Being born with bone problems, they just put it down to rheumatism!
Today isn't a good day i feel like curling up in bed today doing nothing xxxx
when i read these blogs answers and questions i realise how lucky i am as i am still working i have been taking strong cocodamol and also fibro fog has blanked my mind to the other i have just started taking gabapenctin to se if that helps xx
