does anyone know of a decent g.p who doesn't believe fibro is hypachondria or all in the head in the york area?

I suppose another way to tackle this would be to ask your GP for a referral to a Rheumatologist at your nearest hospital for a second opinion and examination. I hope you get the help you deserve and need electricjaws, take care.

My son lives in York and his GP sent him to the specialist unit in Leeds. Apparently they have a whole unit dedicated to FMS, CFS,ME so care is available just not in York itself.

wow i never knew that ,leeds is not far away, could i be cheeky and ask the name of his g.p and where the practice is ,i live approx 20 min car ride from york city itself, i'm getting so fed up with practice i'm with cheers x

thanks i'd appreciate that ,heworth isn't too far away from where i live,about 10 mins by car ,if you get a chance could you find out which dept he attends at leeds hosp, is it under rheumatology? or let me knw who he sees there please,i will be eternally grateful thanks speedqueen x

Hi sorry to keep you waiting but son has been busy so hard to get hold of lol. His GP is Dr Lloyd at Heworth Green surgery which is part of the Priory Medical group I apologise for not having address and phone number but he was driving and couldn't look things up for me. The unit in Leeds is at the Seacroft hospital and is linked to the Leeds mental health group. He can't remember the full title of it but it is something basic like CFS/ME/FMS unit. He thinks both places are online so hopefully you will be able to find them. Hope this is of help. Soft hugs, Speedy xx

cheers speedy,it's very kind of you to respond so quickly,it may be of some help to me, as i have been under a woman g.p for several yrs with this but she thinks everyone with fibro is exsactly the sme,just a bit of achy muscle pain,so she was getting really detremental to me so i have changed to a male g.p at the practice but i don't feel he has much knowledge of fibro so thinking maybe a change of practice (if i am not out of his area zone) to dr lloyd might be a good thing xx thanks again electric jaws
