I know i need a stick but i havent quite got to the point of giving yet. I am 31 and i think i should battle on for a bit more. I do know that day will come sooner rather than later.

Good luck with yours and you are not too old, i hope it helps you loads. :)

I rather fancy the other saying Rosehip, you are only as old as the man that you feel. I should be so lucky!! xx

hi ysyes i wrote a blog about it bless you it is horrible how it gets you isnt it one day you can do things the next you cant

i am 47 i used to love dancing but i jus cant dio it like i used to but never mind ithink the key really is to try to focus on the things that you can do rather than the things you cant

but some days you just cant seem to do that x

anyway as long as you know youre not alone on here love to you diddle x

I am 47 and have recently started to use three different types of sticks. My husband has struggled to accept that i need a stick at the moment. A while ago in my hillwalking days he bought me a pair of sprung walking poles. The first time I went out with him with my normal stick it was obvious he was embarrassed. Later he suggested I use the poles so when I go out with him I use one of them. If I am solo and being a bit too ambitous for my own good I have a stick with a built in seat which is wonderful. I have attached a wrist strap and a shoulder strap to it so i can get it out of the way if I want. And then of course there is the pretty burgundy paisley folding stick which can hide in my bag until I need it. My attitude is if it makes my life easier why worry? Recently told elderly mother that her Zoomer as my daughter calls it (battery mobility scooter) may well relocate from her garage to mine as she is not using it. Anyone for a race?????

I have used a stick for the last year, I am 42. I used to fall over a lot without it, my balance was completely off kilter. I have days when I try not to use it still, I am trying to strengthen the muscles in my legs...use them or lose them I am told by my physio...Don't be embarrassed about using the stick, it is there to help. Also it gets you a seat on the train when you need one! (mostly)...not long ago I had an arthroscopy on my knee and couldn't walk anywhere as the fibro tripled the pain of the operation. I decided that I would still get out and about and used a mobility scooter at my local shopping centre...it was great fun knocking everybody down...there is a reason I don't have a driving licence!!

I have a stick. i had it for 6 months before I would use it. But my legs shake so much and I feel so unsteady that I had to give in. I have been using it for about 2 years now and still hate it. I continually have to apologise to people for knocking them with it aswell, my husband says I am a menace!! Oh well needs must.

I have used a stick for about 2 years and I am not embarrassed at all. I was at first but I am used to it now and yes it gets me a seat on the bus, or even in town in the shopping centre. I am 50 years old this year I feel about 90 but who cares ?
