Hi crissy, Ive had FMS for neally 18 years and tried lots of different meds. Ive also got problems with my bones and spine which are hyper-exaggerated by the condition and opiates like fentanyl, MST and tramadol have all helped in the past. But they dont really help with, what I call my 'fibro pains'. For the joint and muscle aches, anxiety and sleeplessness and fatigue, you really need to take something that can block your over active nerve signals and let your body and mind relax a little. Any pain killer can help to reduce the pain caused by your muscle tension, but you really need to target the source of that tension, either by a nerve sedative like Gabapentin and/or (if you can) by relaxation or alternative thereies - massage, flotation etc. Hope that helps x

I am same as ballerina (above) I have other problems which are causing pain, so I have to have Fentanyl (37 mcgs every 3 days) and tramadol for the pain of an old back injury, and also for my shoulder which I fracture/dislocated many years ago, and often gives me pain again.

Hypermobility is a condition which effections joints, muscles etc it can be in varying degrees some which cause alot of pain and common dislocations and other people hardly suffer at all.. a bit like fibromyalgia. It is a condition from birth. Some people suffer from hypermobility as well as fibromyalgia its a bit like some people suffer from fibro and arthritis. Hypermobility can cause fibromyalgia i believe.

I suffer from hypermobility in most of my joints which causes alot of pain and i cant use my hands and cant walk without crutches indoors and outside i use a wheelchair. I cant wash, dress myself i have to have carers to help me with most things.

Sometimes its hard to tell the difference between the fibro and hypermobility because i seem to be in pain everywhere : (

Here is a link that might be able to describe it alot better than i can sorry i am not good at describing things.. :

I hope this helps
