Stress & anxiety & depression definitely without a doubt increase pain levels in fibromyalgia sufferer's.Not one known painkiller or SSRI treatment works on me.Saw my private sector pain consultant surgeon aweek ago & I asked him what happens if you were in a accident etc of any kind & pain killers won't help in anyway,he told me the only relief you would get,is it you knocked out with sedation 🥺.I'm on butec transdermal patches being 30 mcg for 7 days then you replace them.
To be honest they only take away about 6 to 10 % of the pain of 100.
They supposed to be 60 to 100 more potent then morphine.
As other painkillers don't work or SSRIs I have nothing for breakthrough pain,so live in somewhat 24/7 agony.

I do feel for you truly, it feels like one must suffer regardless & how in 2024 there is only pain management to be hopeful for & no other relief from pain, not complete relief.
We are all unique but hopefully we will be able to try out a new drug, trials are often being performed.
“They have added several different inflammatory type medications to what I already take and it hasn’t touched the sides.”
That’s because Fibromyalgia isn’t related to inflammation. It’s the absence of such things that lead to a diagnosis. So no wonder they didn’t work. The only thing I take is an SSRI which is a minor help. Can’t handle pain killers at all and anyway so many on a cocktail of drugs find they don’t work/stop working. It’s a crappy condition.
Drugs not working for us is a common feature of fibromyalgia, I don't take anything for my fibromyalgia because nothing works.I was terrified of having my children because I don't respond to painkillers. My pregnancy was very painful as you might imagine. When labour came nothing they gave me helped, the gas and air or the pills. I was greatly relieved that the epidural did work, although I could only have a little bc I fainted if they gave me more.
I have chronic migraines so I can only have painkillers 8 days a month anyway. Pain is a feature of our lives, there's no escaping it. We have to find other ways of existing.
When you stop running from pain I think that's when you start living really. Even though I started with migraines at 5, it still took me until my mid 30s to really accept it. Every 5ish years I get another chronic pain condition and I find I have to go through the process again 🙄
I've tried various things to help myself both mental and physically, nothing has helped. It's frustrating because GP's are too lazy to look at your records and assume that you haven't tried at all. I have pain from head to toe all day every day and I am always anxious but that's not due to the FM, my depression and anxiety stems from various traumatic events as a child and adult which is probably why I have FM.
I don't take medications for the pain, I was told by one GP that they could make my IBS and reflux worse, I can't swallow tablets and capsules anymore anyway.
Hello, sending some empathy as the pain can be horrid, with it turning cold , consistently damp and rain (which aggravates me 😞) I just feel like hibernating under the duvet my meds are not doing much now , I’ve an ibuprofen tablet I can only take 3 times a day because of its strength , it’s helping , I’m using Cannabi strong hemp cream too rub in aching painful area s , found that quite useful so stuck with it and ordered online(always run anything new you use by your doctor or pharmacist if on medication ) I do feel for you as 10% is not great if meds are only taking this away for you.
I used to get it by prescription, at a higher dose than I take now, and I always take it after food. It would be easier if I could get a GP appointment, but After 5 years of trying I've virtually given up on them. I'm relatively savvy on meds, I used to be a nurse! Thanks for taking the time to warn me though!
I feel for you; Unfortunately I have no answers; Things have moved on since I was a nurse.
I have it too, From the waist down and in my left shoulder and arm. balance is off, very unstable. It drives me nuts,
I have found, over the years that as I get older, the more it is overtaken by other aches and pains, like the arthritis in my knees and wrists. I haven't been able to get an GP appointment in over 5 years, so I have learned which things help me and get them over the counter.
