Pace yourself but I know this is hard if they work to a timed room system but don’t push yourself so hard your floored on first day πŸ₯°

Perhaps an occupational physio could advise on how to use and retrain your body for all the various tasks once you know what you have to do to settle back in the workplace. Good luck! πŸŽ–οΈπŸŽ–οΈπŸŽ–οΈ

Hi fibrogirl I also work in housekeeping and have done since 2005.

I am a room checker and help out with rooms when it's busy .

I was working 30 hours a week .

In November I had the worst flare up it lasted 3 months !!

I had 3 weeks off work .every day I went to work I thought I was dieing (I never had my fibromyalgia diagnosis until February 24) I thought it was all in my head or it was just me how my body worked as doctors over the years found nothing wrong with me it's taken over 10 + years for diagnosis.

I am still coming to terms with the diagnosis and learning alot from this group.

In January I told my manager that I couldn't go on anymore and told the doctor I am at the end that's how I got my diagnosis and my manager reduced my workload.

Now I am thinking I need to drop a day or 2 I love my job and the ppl I work with .

I struggle every day with fibromyalgia.

I hope your ok and the job goes OK xx

Well best of luck with your job , I'm sure you'll do good..I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for 7 years but first started experiencing symptoms at the age of 16. I currently do a cleaning job, I was a carer throughout COVID times but it unfortunately made me a lot worse. Just don't over do it that's my advice, and if you feel things getting too stressful slow down and always take time for yourself xx

Beware - if you are getting PIP, starting or changing job has to be reported to them, and they will take account of the type of work you are doing in determining whether PIP should continue to be paid.
