Certain smells

Is anyone else effected by certain smells ?Mine are ..

Red wine

Strong perfumes

Burning wood

Fresh-cut grass

Weed

If I get a smell of any of the above , straight away it will turn my stomach make me feel sick and an instant headache 🤢

Yep! My sense of smell is a curse! Ironically it's very good at picking up anything that smells offensive 😫🤢🤮 x

Same here !! they are the only ones that come to mind at that time you know what it's like with brain fog 🙄

I am going thro a huge sensory flare at the moment. Started about 3 months ago so hearing , bright lights and smells. Apparently part of the fibro life

I totally get it! I’m so sensitive to lights, smells, sounds! We’re like exposed nerves

Sorry to hear this x.Yes I get all 3 just a certain light can trigger a migraine . One symptom always triggers another 😭

Thank you for this link .I am still learning about fibromyalgia had it for years but only recently been diagnosed.

Had lots of different symptoms and now put them all under fibromyalgia .x

That's really interesting. I can absolutely relate. Sad thing is, when I experience those things I just assume it's my fault, that I'm lacking, not coping, failing. A reminder that we need to be kinder to ourselves and remember that it's happening too us, not because of us x

Anything with a strong smell can set me off. Worst offenders are cleaning products and beauty care stuff.

Bleach is definitely the worst one and if I am out somewhere and I see the shop Lush, I have to actually cross to the other side of the street to avoid the smells coming from the store.

Omg I am the same with the lush shop constant headache and nausea !!!My kids are all married now and have their own kids , my son who lives around the corner came this morning and made himself a bacon buttie and put tomatoe ketchup on it ( an old smell came up tomatoes ketchup I cannot stand the smell of tomatoe ketchup and salad cream ) 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

I can’t stand the smell of bleach ever since the pandemic when I had to wear a Shield that the skilled nursing home had us wear. I think we are all over sensitive to smell, too much stimulus etc.

I seem to be affected by perfume. I love perfume but it makes me sneeze and my eyes and nose run. Also am allergic to alcohol, especially wine which I enjoy xx

Some of the smells that effect you I love the smell of, I love cut grass and burning wood... I dont like candles blown out or strong perfume smells they effect me too, I'll instantly get a headache and feel better nauseous. The joys of fibromyalgia 🤫

Have you though about asking your inner self why you don't like the smells? I suspect the stuff we hate, react to, fear, are all clues?
