Hi all I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia back in 2019 after seeing a specialist in hospital & after a referral being made by my GP , I like many of you with Fibromyalgia suffer from the destroying fatigue & pain & there are & have been & continue to be many days of this, I currently still work but starting to struggle somewhat more just lately with the fatigue, pain & brain fog as it's called or referred to, I also continue to be treated for Depression & Anxiety via medication & this has been the case for a good many years now, in fact that has been on & off now sine 2006, having been diagnosed with this condition could anybody tell me if it is worth pursuing a claim for PIP & if so, what exactly do I need to do
Thanks in advance

Hi BluetruckerIt's definitely worth applying for. However for the best results please make sure you read and get as much information as you can. Don't do it without doing this first. Get your application form as if you are awarded it the payment gets back dated to when you applied. Also you can ring up for an extension of time if you need it. Getting someone who knows you well and can write a supporting letter is worthwhile as well.
My advice is to keep a diary for a month. Keeping a record of what it prevents you doing. Or how it leaves you after you have completed a task. This can be anything from washing your hair to trying to clean your house. Record what you are struggling with this can be in the workplace or in the home. Secondly if possible get help to fill in the forms. The PIP descriptors guidelines etc can often be confusing and answering the questions can often mean repeating yourself over and over going through each section. You do not state your age but if over fifty I found age concern gives excellent support. I am an old hand at this now and have been in the system from DLA to PIP.It's also important to gather evidence before applying this can be anything from specialists who you have cared for you to letters from family members stating the help they give you. Due to also being on ESA I have used their assessments as evidence. Lol it did cause a few funny moments on various appeals as I used their own assessments to win an appeal against an assessment they as also made.
Hi there, it can become very hard and distressing too try and work , so differently like Dizzy says ring our benefits advisor , I have not been down this road yet of looking at any benefits but I’ve read here members apply when work becomes impossible and impacting badly on their day too day health🙁, I do think depression/anxiety can be partly because of this sometimes horrid condition ,and having been down the road of getting the right medication too help me cope was a must for me personally. I found being at home more and not working I am able too cope a lot better daily as the pressure of a job (be it I was part/time) made me anxious because I became unreliable, shame , I hope all works out for you and let us know how you get along xx
