hi folks is it just me that suffers with memory problems I forget everything.If I’m talking to someone what they saying just doesn’t register in my brain.Another example I make myself a cup of tea then forget it or I go onto something else then I can feel my anxiety kicking of.It’s so frustrating.I could be on me mobile and I forget what I was going to go on,talk about stress levels hitting the roof.
I’ve also not recognised my own fault as I’ve walked passed then on several occasions,it reel gets me angry and upsets me.
Even writing this post as took some time to do as I keep forgetting what to write.

welcome to most of our world on here, it can get very frustrating and annoying, but don’t let it get to you, otherwise you will just cause yourself more problems. My two can be standing in front of me talking, and I’m off with the fairies lol, haven’t heard a word they say, and sometimes what ever comes out of my mouth, is fine in my head but to them I’m talking a foreign language ha ha, I just laugh it off, as I am keeping them amused. 🤪
Is anyone finding that you can have an almost intelligent conversation with someone & later somehow know youve spoke to them but have no memory of the contents of the conversation, not even when my memory is jogged, you know when someone starts saying, yeah you must remember and start describing the things that was said, but no its just not there, no ah ha moment. That's really scary to me. I've just no recollection of the conversation not 5 minutes later or an hour or the next day, it's like being absolutely sloshed if you've had too much to drink and the next day you try and figure what you did, someone tells you what you said/did, you try and remember but you just can't remember.It can be very embarrassing sometimes especially if it's a stranger & your right in the middle of saying something and bam it's gone, you've no idea what you were saying, less than a split second & nothing, nada, gone. I guess the nice thing is knowing others like us understand each other and we can relate to it. That we're not completely alone, we have each other to talk to and know we go through the same things.
yep, I’m with you there, my husband will tell me something, and boom 5 minutes later, it’s gone, then the next day he would say. We spoke about this yesterday, lol you did, you mean.
Yes we have each other on hu, at least we know how it affects us. I must admit the majority of people around me do understand, and I do make them laugh, with my one liners, that make perfect sense to me.
Yep that's about me at the moment, well at least I can blame it on my present medication, but got a sneaky suspicion after I get a gap in the clouds, when I can't reasonably blame the stuff hopefully my brain fog and memory will clear, six year brain fog🥴🥱a new start, new OAP entitled new fields🤞
Hi there, this happens too me 🥴 and a lot of fibro sufferers , we call it brain fog, I can go too do something and within 3 seconds I’ve forgotten what I was supposed too be doing, my close family and friends now have too read my txts and work out what I am saying as I jump from one subject too another before I’ve finished the 1st sentence ,and now it’s a standing joke but in a nice way . I think little sticky notes help me or lists of too do things then tick things off. I’m quite often in trouble for leaving the garden hose on in the Summer as hubbie now goes behind me. I agree with Blue I do have a giggle about things now and I’m the same we end up having a few laughs along the way. Xx
Me too.Had a back end car accident 14 months ago and yes it brought fibromyalgia to the fore I was suffering with brain fog and loads of other stuff But read an article which said it was worthwhile taking D3,Tumeric,and Coq10 Had been taking d3 and tumeric for a few years cos thought it was osteoarthritis.When I added the Coq10 in it really helped my brain fog ,let’s face it anything worth a try
I had also been on pernicious anaemia site for years cos initially several years ago started with B12 deficiency,My two kids had it too so take b12 daily for my cold legs it does help
It obviously runs in my family can see it in my kids
In addition to the comments above it's hard to think straight when your sleep is being affected, you're tired and you're in constant pain. Also, I'm guessing it's the same for you guys but my memory has improved since going on testosterone. Might be worth a blood test. I have to write everything down (and then often lose the list!). Be kind to yourself, we are functioning the best we can against the odds 👍
can I get a blood test for that on the nhs.I’m desperate to try anything I’m scared in case I’ve got vascular dementia which mom ad among other things.
I ad a brain scan I was told it ok that was a huge relief.I also av thyroidism plus others.
As I understand it, it's easy for men to get blood test and testosterone on the NHS but not us girls. I had to go private and now my GP will prescribe on the NHS although my last prescription is still at chemist as there are supply issues 😏! Anyway, try not to worry about what if's (dementia) and use the small amount of energy we have on what we definitely know 👍. Best of luck, don't give up and be kind to yourself ☺️
Sometimes I wonder if its just me.....my partner is frequently accusing me of "being away with the fairies" as I immediately forget what he has said. I have to write everything down otherwise I have forgotten it within a few minutes.
I can't remember names when people introduce themselves. Gets very embarrassing sometimes.
I read & re-read texts & emails before I send them as they are often missing words & make no sense.
I just have to put it down to fibro combined with the menopause! Grrrrr!!!
I’m talking to friend or folk struggling to take my dog for walk u stand there u try to talk,but the words won’t come out of ur mouth and u feel a fool,now that’s embarrassing😀
Hi Chance I get fibro fog something terrible I asked my husband to get me a sausage roll instead of saying toilet roll also I said move the washing machine instead of fan I know that I want to say but it comes out saying a different thing it's mad I do it a lot but we do have a laugh about it I always say were does that come from as I know what I want to say but it comes out different I just say sorry it's my fibro fog.stay well fibro friend your not on your own.xx
I go along with all the other comments here. I also think fibro isolates us lots more than we realise and I am trying to put that right by talking to myself (and an imaginary friend) deliberately. Am sure it helps the brain. Next time you see a baby or toddler practising sounds ( my mum-in-law used to call it Horace talk) you will realise that they are working their brains and building cognitive skills. They talk while they play so now I talk myself out loud through jobs etc. Really think it is helping. That might give your mind the workout it wants too. -Just make up daft words for words you've forgotten and get others involved when you are with them and make it fun. I physically revolve my hand and forefinger when looking for a word as a cue to them I could use some help, like it's a game. They get a thumbs up when they get it right. - Sometimes I can visually recall a word by imagining it written on an imaginary pad on my wrist like a watch. - Sing too, maybe along with songs on the radio and don't let anyone put you off. It's all in there still. You could try having some fun rhyming words - the ruder the better because it makes you laugh and relaxes you and Limericks are a great laugh too. I've been to a writing class for years on and off. Has been a mental workout that has helped me too. I'm still nervous of using the phone though!!! Keep going chatting with people and don't worry about replying to this.
Your idea of talking to yourself really resonates with me. I've been totally isolated (geographically and socially) after a bad injury and ended up reading out loud from a book just to keep my speech/mind going.
Your idea of using daft words, rude words, rhyming words, singing, visualisations for prompts, physical actions to stimulate and reward are practical applications of some theories I've read about for years. And extensions to those ideas that I've never read about.

Thanks very much Wunderkid. Sounds like you are really coming back from your injury now. Inspired really, reading out loud when you could have just lain there watching the box. Also sounds like you have some favourite writers and have already got to grips with lots of interesting theories and ideas.
Now I have just got really good new reading glasses and dry eyes are getting fixed I'm reading again too. I shall try doing what you've been doing too now because unless it's poetry, I don't. It would help me to understand more of what people are writing about because stuff like TV chat numbs my listening septuagenarian brain more than anything.

When I went through the reading out aloud to myself, that was decades ago. And where there was limited ability to access TV and its one TV station.
Nowadays, I record/download TV programs or movies, and to be fair, I do tend to have TV on for sound/company.
Love technology when it improves life. I use pre-recorded TV to zap/never watch ads and fast-forward (while still listening to what is being said) any boring or irrelevant bits.
Best of all is being on this website and chatting/learning from people such as yourself, Kimijay.
Hi Wunderkid. You've got me recalling our first 12 inch Pye TV my parents got for the Coronation! - 'Sound company' is a good concept especially with it's two potential meanings. I like that. I certainly like trying out the different alpha wave sounds and music on youtube. They can be very relaxing.
Meanwhile everything exercises my brain now. I am certainly no wonderkid with techno stuff so hubs mostly drives the TV recordings and skips the ads but even he gets annoyed by the controls and says some very rude things about them! It is good though that we can control something about our lives.
New specs allowing me to finally read 'Biology and Belief' by Bruce Lipton. Interested to see if his research on the human brain is fibro inclusive. He does have some interesting things to say about ancient and modern medicine and changing the negative programming of the brain but I hope he has enough real understanding of where our condition is at.
Yes, I enjoy this website too and I have tried new things to help the fibro because of it. I need to switch off now so sleep well and have a good pain free day tomorrow.
I have this really badly, too. I also have hyperammonemia which causes severe brain fog, hallucinations, and blacking out, and falling. If your brain fog is that bad, I would get that checked, too. It was just a random weird occurrence that they tested my ammonia and found that issue.

I truly empathise with you.
Have had fatigue/pain/memory issues for years but a couple of years ago my brain function deteriorated further and my cognition (understanding) was beginning to go. It was very concerning.
Finally remembered my late father with Parkinsons was prescribed Vitamin D3 1000IU by his drs to help with his declining memory.
It works. I take it every morning with breakfast and it has reversed the cognition decline. (Please do not take anything until checking with your dr first.)
My short term memory is still dodgy and I use a planner diary, visual aides, mobile phone calendar alerts, log (write notes) when on the phone (with friends or business) and have recently read of someone recording their phone conversations to aid memory -you would have to check the legality of that.
Oh, and about the only benefit to getting older is that people excuse your memory lapses due to you being “aged” (some people in their 20s regard anyone over 50 as ancient). When you’re younger, they just think you’re retarded.
Will end with a final tip: cold water/air on your face/head can give you a few minutes improvement in clarity/fatigue.
hi there wunderkid every bit of information is good advice,i already wash face in cold water 2 or 3 times daily,looks like i b foneing doctor I’ll mention that to him vitamin d3.I have b12 jabs every 28 days,would vitamin d3 be okay with jabs,thanks for ur reply.
I get brain fog too, often forgetting things or struggling for the right word. But they are in there somewhere. I try to spend a little time most days doing some word or number puzzles. I think it helps to exercise your brain.
At my worst with extreme stress when I cannot focus on reading/music/TV, I do simple sudoku. I find numbers are simpler than word puzzles (I usually love code crackers) and sudhoku helps take my mind away.
