Flare again

Hi everyone,

I hope you all have had a lovely Christmas.

Santa brought me another flare , a present that I didn’t ask for !

I am in so much pain , I am very tearful and my mental health isn’t very good , my family are very supportive and my fiancé is brilliant, but I do feel guilty that I’m back in bed again and out of action. I have the Dr. calling me today as I have said that my pain meds aren’t helping.

I am due back at work next week and that worries me because I haven’t been at my job very long and I don’t want to have to be off again, it’s all very stressful and frustrating. Fingers crossed 🤞 I get some help today.

sorry for my moan .

Gentle hugs 🤗 to you all. Xx

Such a shame , but unfortunately many of us are in the same boat at this time of year , as we try to do a bit more and join in the festivities, just changing our routine even a little can annoy the Fibro , it is such a Diva and doesn't take any notice if the calendar.

Stress isn't just a bad thing . It's any activity , physical or mental , bad and sad , or fun and good , which is just too much for our body and brain to cope with in our current state of health. We can have too much if a good thing .

Think about the positives and don't feel guilty for being sensible and looking after yourself. It sounds like you have an amazing support unit and they will understand the need for you to rest and get your symptoms back under control before you return to work. In fact , they would feel guilty if they felt you kept pushing yourself and had more pain while trying to keep up with them.

Relaxing and banishing those negative feeling make a huge difference to our flares by eliminating the added Stress and symptoms it produces.

Have you tried a temporary small increase in your current medications for 3 days and included a standard dose at the 4 hour intervals if paracetamol to help control the flare , Sick Day rules combined with rest .

Try relaxation exercises on your bed, lying comfortably, being still , using delibarate slow breaths and relaxing each part of your body deliberately from toe to head as you breath.

Try increasing your hydration even if you aren't thirsty . More exertion can cause mild inflammation in muscles you haven't used regularly triggering nerve pain and hydration helps reduce the inflammation as well as being vital for all body functions and body healing.

Hydrate with water or green tea each day to the recommended daily amount.

Increased vitamin C , D and Magnesium can also help speed up flare reduction.

Take care and don't beat yourself up , it's the Fibro that is at fault , not you , your just the warrior that has to fight it each day .
