Does this sound like Fibromyalgia?

Hello all, sorry for the long post but I am doing some health detective work!

I have not been diagnosed with anything yet but have been having loads of tests for a weird combination of symptoms that don't add up. Recently the muscle issues have caused me to think this might be something like Fibromyalgia. Maybe someone would be kind enough to let me know if any sound similar?

Years of a seasonal skin rash (winter is worse) that no dermatologist can diagnose, starting light therapy soon as they don't know what else to offer (looking forward to that actaully, in this cold weather!)

IBS symtoms for over 2 years. Colonsocopy negative. Scan normal, mild fatty liver. Watching my fat intake now and living with the IBS somehow. More aware of the triggers now.

Ectopic heart beats, feeling faint and dizzy on and off, not all the time. EEG and 24 hr tape normal, they did see the ectopics but did not know why they were happening. Had this for years, probably unrelated.

Since July 2022, sudden neck and shoulder pain and numbness in left arm and two smallest fingers, diagnosed with possible cervical (c8) disk radiculopathy.

Then I 'pulled' my uper back really badly - no injury, I just woke up like that one day.

Having a cervical and thoracic MRI soon.

To top things off I then had a nasty fall down some stairs and a broke a rib in my back, seriously bruised my left elbow and pevis about 6 weeks ago, got a chest infection which set off my asthma.

Then everything got a lot worse;

I keep 'pulling' muscles in my neck, back and stomach, just by turning over in bed or getting up too fast. They hurt for a couple of days then ease off.

Intense cramping in my right calf which comes a goes but can be excrutiating. Gets better after walking around for a while but I am limping for the first 10 minutes.

Waking up with searing migraine pains behind my right eye spreading to my neck and feeling sick.

I never usually get headaches or muscle pains like this. I am usually so healthy and active. I have a really busy job and have just taken on a new project that Iam really excited about but I do work from home 3 out of 5 days now. I was blaming the muscle pains on home working and just genenrally being less active, which it could still be of course.

Luckily my brain seems to be working OK at the moment, although I am typing this from my bed as I feel shakey post migraine. Just praying I am well enough for work tomorrow.

I feel like I am either going mad or falling to bits. Looking forward to hearing back from someone. Thank you!

Hi and a warm welcome to the forums. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our website fmauk.org and our patient information booklets at fmauk.org/publications

While some of your symptoms could be related to fibromyalgia, they could also be due to other conditions

The core symptoms for diagnosis are

-widespread pain

-fatigue

-unrefreshing sleep

-cognitive dysfunction

Thank you for replying. Yes, I don't think I have got to the bottom of this yet. Thanks for the resources. Best wishes,🙂

Yes as Hazel_Angelstar says some of these symptoms could be fibro related but others sound like separate issues. I would see what the MRI scan shows eg I have fibro but also osteoarthritis and some back degeneration. The pains in my back sometimes come from the osteo and sometimes from the fibro but now I am more used to the condition I can often differentiate which is which and act accfordingly. Often fibro is diagnosed when all other avenues have been pursued and tests and scans come up negative. I hope you get some answers soon and can therefore get the relevant help.x

Thank you. I hope it is not - after reading some of your posts and more info I think not. Sending lots of positivity to the whole community here. You are all going through difficult times, it must be so hard. All the best!
