Hi, I am on citalopram with no side effects. Be patient with them as they can take up to a month or more to work. I have been on them two months now and i am feeling a lot better with taking them.

I took them for 8 years very successfully then my GP changed me to Pristiq. and won't change me back

Citalopram is good but don't rush for results...takes a few weeks

x

citalopram was one of my very first antidepressants (30 years ago ) I was also very hesitant to take any medication but I’m glad I did. At first it gave me a total euphoric reaction that lasted a couple of months then I settled down. I don’t remember any horrendous side effects ( well nothing that was any worse to how I was ). I’m so glad I did , it probably saved my life. Everyone reacts differently to medication but I think you should give it a try and see how you go.

hi thanks for your kind message x I am a bit hesitant about taking them, I have sinus tachycardia I think due to fibromyalgia or anxiety issues so I hope maybe it will be okay x I never got on very well with other ones like sertraline or amytriptiline but I hope these might help x

Hi fibrogirl41

I have been taking Citalopram on and off for a few years and it works well for me. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia two years ago (at age 62) so have found my anxiety and depressive symptoms have been off the scale.

GP told me to increase from 10 to 20mg and it does work well. I still get short episodes of anxiety and low mood but I’m a lot better. Citalopram is one of the best antidepressants to come off (if you ever need to) as long as its reduced slowly. I’m on it longterm as it helps me cope with my pain flares too.

Hope it works for you. Take care x

hi, ive just started citalopram 3 weeks ago, had a bad experience with anti depressants about 20 years ago, so didnt really wont to go back on them, doctor basically said there was no more they could do for me unless i started taking them, and he told the pip assessor and i was refused pip,

but ive had no side affects from citalopram (yet), theyve not stopped any pain, or help me with sleep, but they have calmed me down, i dont get so frustrated now, so its something.. i dont like taking big pharma drugs at all, but needs must.. good luck
