I am sure I have fibro but trying to get Dr's to agree is proving difficult. How did everyone get a diagnosis. I work for NHS but feel they don't understand at all.i have had this for over two years and it's getting worse, work is hard and I have a lot of time off.I feel like my life is on hold all thetime.

Hi and a warm welcome to the forums. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our website fmauk.org and our patient information booklets at fmauk.org/publications (including our employment booklet that you may find useful)

Re diagnosis - you might find this link useful from the Royal College of Physicians, plus there is also a section on diagnosis on the NHS website rcplondon.ac.uk/guidelines-...

In my case it took 20 years to get a diagnosis, but hopefully it won't take so long for you because folk are far more aware than they were.

If you're not having a lot of luck with your regular GP, see if there is a younger one you could see. Younger ones are far more up to date, as I find the older ones are often just cruising until they can retire, and some can't be asked to update their knowledge.

It does take time to get a diagnosis because they have to rule out other conditions first. If you can, ask if you can be referred to a Rheumatologist, it's how I was finally diagnosed.

Cheers, Midori

Ask your doctor to refer you to someone with an understanding of the condition, the doctor doesn't know much when you start getting past a cold, so fight your case with the doctor tell them the problems tell them the limited issues and ask to be seen by someone in that area, they will probably send you to a rhumotologist and this will all depends on there qualifications and understanding of the body.

Thanks, I did see a rheumatologist who told me it was fibro and said they would do nothing at his clinic and to go back to my GP. I don't think my GP will do much I have had to push for every test
