after waiting since April to see a neurologist and was told by my GP that I would only be offered an appointment after my referral was triaged I got a letter last week to say they had triaged me and I would be offered an appointment. I got a letter from the hospital asking me to ring the appointments which I did this afternoon and the lady said I had been offered a telephone appointment in September with a consultant who specialises in epilepsy. I made the appointment but I don’t think I have epilepsy. I was referred for a tremor and cold feelings in my legs and arms. I am hoping when I speak to the consultant I get a face to face appointment. Seems a bit ridiculous to be having a tremor looked into over the phone. Has anyone else had a consultation over the phone.

neurology appointment
Hi there 👋
Ive been referred to neurology for migraines and am awaiting an appointment. I think that the specialism in epilepsy will just be an incidental piece of info, but useful nonetheless, as many neurological conditions are linked and/or have the same medications.
As for phone appointments, I’ve had several of phone physio appointments and even they said they had no idea why they had to do them over the phone 😅 these have them resulted in subsequent face-to-face appointments, so the same may happen with you.
Hopefully you’ll finally get somewhere after all this time 🤞💙
Good evening
I’m in the same boat Patdoyle.
I have a complicated brain disorder and severe spinal problem on top of fibromyalgia and the rest.
In my case the referral to hospital made a lot of confusion for me including the spinal surgeon. It was a phone appointment. But he was kind to arrange MRI head for me, as well as other MRIs, rather than waiting for a referral from a neurologist or neurosurgeon but he emphasised I must be seen by a neurosurgeon.
In short I think the hospitals can’t cope and everything is done in a rush to our detriment. I feel for them. In the meantime I still don’t know where I’m ending with this level of pain from every cell of my body. Just waiting for the result of my partial MRI.
Best wishes xx
Yes, I found them stressful and pointless. I had a physio appointment by phone 🤣. I had a consultant appointment for half past 3, he eventually phoned ne half past 7 in the evening, this was to tell me I had a problem with my prostrate cancer and needed another MRI scan. I sympathise with the NHS staff but they don't understand the illness they are helping to treat!
