Hi does anyone else keep tripping over there own feet and have dizzy spells. I have found recently I am unsteady on my feet and seem to trip over nothing or my own feet , I have also become very clumsy and I wondered if any one else has experienced this and did they find anything that helps .

I find that clumsiness coincides with my confusion “fibro fog” and weakness in my arms/hands/legs. I use a walking stick on days like that and try to rest as much as possible 💙

Thank you for your reply , I will try using a walking stick . I do have one so I will use it now thanks again

It took me a while to get used to using it in public - I felt like I was just being eccentric and dramatic 😅 people aren’t used to seeing a young, healthy-looking person using a walking stick… but it’s none of their business and my health is important, so I have managed to get on with it 😁💙

I was listening to a podcast about brain fog - and clumsiness was one of the things they discussed

Hi Kalamazoo1, yes I stumble a lot, I find it especially when I am worn out. My feet start to shuffle as I am unable to pick them up to walk properly so they "stick" to the floor while my body still wants to move. I also use a walking stick when outside (I'm housebound now) and have done since I was about 26, the start of Fibro (now 44). I also tend to drop things for no apparent reason, I have a lot of pain in my hands/fingers/wrists and they tend to be weak, like above this is worse if I'm worn out or over done it, when bad and I am unable to lift a bottle of medicine my Mum has to support my hands while I pour it. My hands also shake a lot. xx

I have essential tremor too

Hi Horner, it's frustrating isn't it, if I'm up to doing a bit of sewing and trying to thread a needle it's like an Olympic sport, I get so worn out and if I've over done things and it's really bad my Mum will have to steady my hands so I can take my liquid medication. Oh the joys of M.E and Fibro!. xx

Agree with other comments it's definitely a lot worse when you've done too much or the brain fog is in high gear! I find my speech & voice is really affected too, it's exhausting just to talk.

I used to be amazed at how clumsy my partner was but now I astound myself with my clumsiness! Try to pick something up I either miss it completely, push it or bat it around the room.

Checkout counter in the supermarket seems to be particularly challenging for some reason, for me anyway. There's always a queue behind you adding to the pressure and hands just won't do what you want them to do 🥴

The only thing that helps me is to rest, even just 10 minutes can help. Not always so easy to do if you're at work or have a young family though.

Yep. I'm clumsy and often trip, drop things. Also I get Dizzy a lot xx

Yes. I find it comes in phases. The saddest time was when I could not hold my new granddaughter for very long because I was afraid my arms would just fail me. Scuffing the bottom of my feet on the stairs is a favourite one and nearly has me over so I hold tight on at least one side and count myself down each step. Knocking things over is a favourite too. I reckon the clumsiness is worse when there are lots of things causing stress because you are more tired anyway. - Yes. Do use sticks. I am sure the brain gets tired trying to balance as well as walk. Sometimes I can do without them or my upper arms and shoulders start to complain, so I do without and try the mindfulness thing of just watching myself doing the physical movement and even talk myself through the physical actions. Mostly the dizzy spells come from being under pressure to do something. Get respites too occasionally. Hope you get some of those sometimes.

Hi, I have had many a fall, at the moment I'm in a sling after having tripped and fractured my humerous in 3 places, top of my arm.I had a fall prevention gentleman to see and access me, he's 99% confident it's my varifocal glasses. I do have fybro including brain fog though 🤔

Oh yes, I can trip over fresh air!

Especially if I have overdone things, my balance fails. Even my sticks or rollator can't always help.

Cheers, Midori

Thanks everyone for your comments , my children say that I waddle when I walk but I think that is the only way I can balance myself when I walk . Everyone’s comments have made me feel better as I now know it’s my fibro and other people experience the same x

Yes I’m so clumsy and the dizziness is a joke. Some days are better than others

Hi hun,it's an awful thing falling , I have done this numerous times having broken wrists, ankle and knee cap. Unfortunately I have no miraculous cure but try to have someone near when move around or on call so that you are helped as soon as possible. I try to find the humour in everything or I would end up crying and my tears would start a flood so I end up singing weebles wobble but we don't stay down!🤣🥰

Oh my goodness, it's not just me then. I thought I was just clumsy! It must have something to do with fibro. I will mention this to my GP when I next see him. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
