Painful feet

Does anyone have really painful feet - especially in the morning? Mine are so bad it's hard to stand but then get less painful when I walk about. Tried to explain to Dr but they don't seem to get it.

Hi,

Yes I have terribly painful feet. I have had fibromyalgia since September 2020 and since day one they have been a major issue!!!!

I can't go bear foot at all( not even in the shower!!!)

I live in my Sketchers trainers, they are arch support as I have flat feet. Occasionally they go in the washing machine though.

My feet feel like I'm wired to the electrics!! At this moment in time i'm laying on my bed, the pain shooting from my lower back into my feet

I have a Rheumatology appointment next Monday and I will be listing painful feet as part of my symptoms.

Is there any one else out there that shares our experience with their feet?? Xx

Hi I am the same- recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia & have very painful shins and feet & severe stiffness in the morning. I’m waiting for a podiatry appointment. Good luck.

Hi it’s me again. Have you tried compression socks they do help me . Instead of wearing them completely on your legs 🦵 pull them over your feet 🦶 as well, worth a try. Hope it improves for you.

Hi Booksgranny

Yes I've bought compression socks but unfortunately they don't really help me. I bought them originally as I had really bad restless feet and legs. I can't wear them at work as I wear tights. I'm off today so I will try them at home today.

When my feet are really bad my husband massages them and its bliss but as soon as I walk on them again then the pain comes back.

I have a Rheumatology appointment on Monday next week so hopefully I'll get more of an idea of what's going on. 👍👍

Thanks for your reply Xx

I get this regularly - it can be agony when I first stand up, but then eases off when I start to move. No reason for it was found in my case

I have it and the GP suspected plantar fasciitis and referred me to a podiatrist who confirmed this. I was given stretching exercises and orthotics and it has improved significantly in the months since.

Hi have had this for many years and feet have been a major part of this from the start. Though have pain every where most days. Each day now is a real struggle as can hardly walk at all, and do not go out hardly unless with some one but thats not much. Breathing is a major issue since last year on/off worsen, so out of puff can hardly do much really. Yes lightening electric pains in fingers and legs at times also. Back issues also, would love to have a break from all of this. Certain people i know say well your always ill, hello i have more bad days than good. Why can people just not leave you alone, i dont interfere with no body. Arms and hands pain all the time.

Hi suffered for years with on and off pains ibs migraines always ill as friends comment. Just before lockdown I mentioned fibromyalgia and doc seemed to agree and said she would write it on my notes!!! At the minute I’m suffering terrible with plantar fasciitis and now feel like my ankles are going to snap. I’m really struggling at work which is only part time , as a cleaner constantly on my feet. Rang doc can’t help as too busy injecting covid boosters and physiotherapist have 3 months waiting list. I’ve been doing all the stretching , icing and massaging but pain is just getting worse up legs then into back and neck, obviously because of the way I’m walking There just seems to be no help and just managing to get to and from work ,I’m lucky that I get taxi with access to work ,otherwise I would have to be on sick and don’t get paid. Just gets you down sometimes and painful feet is horrendous you feel trapped

Hi Juliet, PF is so painful, have you tried using an insole with a little bit of an arch lift?

Skechers do an arch lift trainer, a bit pricey but so worth it, though I think the price has come down since I bought mine. I wear them for work all the time, well actually I just about live in them!

Crocs too are so good for taking the pressure off, I use the Lite ride flips mostly at home & the Lite ride clogs.

Magnesium spray might be worth a try on your legs, definitely helps mine. Epsom salt baths as hot as you can take it really helps too.

I still do the PF exercises, mainly pulling toes towards you, heel drops & lunges to stretch the calf muscles.

Hope some of this helps x

Hi Cheetiecat

Yes, I have Sketchers arch support trainers and they really help my feet. I think I paid £80 for mine but they have lasted. Like you I live in them. I've tried to buy some Scholl arch support insoles for my work shoes/ boots but they were too small. I bought a size 6-8 but when I put them in my shoes my toes were hanging over the edge!! Arrrgh 🙄

I have also bought some Sketchers sliders and I use them in the shower, they aren't arch support but they are contoured and allow me to have a shower and not have painful feet!!! I can't walk around with them on for long though, my ankles start ripping with pain!!!

I'll ask my Rheumatologist on Monday if there is anything else I can try. I might try magnesium spray as you recommended.... I don't want to keep taking meds, I take enough as it is!!

Take care Xx

Ppl that don’t have fibro can’t understand how it feels to live with the pain all the time. I also struggle each day hv good and bad days and some day just feel tired and exhausted by just doing things around the house and shopping walking I can’t go on long walk no more cos my legs start to hurt more and back pain as well. I used to hv so much energy but now I can only do so much now fibro as slowed me down on a daily bases . I’m carer and not been able work now for 4 month cos I’m tired and the pain I hv , the physical work I find difficult to do now . !
