I have been experiencing severe pain in my right elbow, below my knees, and one big toe. It feels like my toe is broken and my elbow pain gets really severe at times. My doctor said it is just part of the fibro and it will go away when I lose weight and exercise more. Yes, I need to do that, but I also hate that doctors think that is what causes fibro. I had the condition when I was really skinny (many years ago) as well. Anyone else dealing with this type of pain? Besides pain pills (don't seem to help), resting the areas (which I do) and ice (which I hate because it hurts more), is there any other advice??

Bursitis type pain - Anyone else?
Easily said by someone that has not got fibro as we all try and take gentle excercise , but our age, medications can a contribute to weight gain along the way, I do find with the horrid aches/pains my evening bath with Epsom salts just relaxes everything, have you tried any rub in pain relief creams as there some good ones on the market? I am looking forward to the weather warming up as Winter seems to agrrevate my fibro pains xx
Thanks, I'll try Epsom salts. I do have some anti-inflammatory gels, but sadly, nothing really seems to make it stop. I get massages as often as I can, but that pain is always a catch 22. It helps with some pain but always aggravates others. I live in Malaysia where it's warm all year, but the need for a/c is what does me in. I need to find a climate that is mild enough to not need a/c but doesn't get too cold. I hate winter with a passion.
Hi Jo - sorry you’re suffering. Just checking: you don’t have any swelling with the pain do you? x
There is significant lumps in my shins, right below my knees, but nothing in my toe or elbow that I notice.
I’d say it’s worth taking photos of the lumps and sending them to your GP - or getting a face to face if you can. They might want to do some quick bloods to check for inflammation and they could potentially give you 5 days of steroids to make you more comfortable. Don’t suffer in silence! x
I find heat works well for me. Wheatie bags, hot water bottle etc just be careful to cover with a towel if too hot at first.
Just a thought. It couldn’t be gout could it as it’s in your big toe? Can also affect other joints. It can be extremely painful. Too much Utica acid in your body. You could try some apple cider vinegar mixed with warm water.
I suffer from Bursitis, rt leg, from hip to shin the burning pain gets unbearable tramadol helps a bit, I have to find a position for my leg , to stop the pain for a while. cortisone injection might help you.x
Thanks, but I don't have thigh pain. It's my elbow and toe. I can't seem to see anything about these areas under the suggestion.
Oh, ok. No worries. I have lots of those days!!
