Yes. I took them when first diagnosed but they just made everything worse - not only did I have to cope with Fibromyalgia but I felt like a zombie as well. I take painkillers but that's all. It's not easy but I do feel better for it.

Yes...not taken anything for the past two years. Been diagnosed since 2010. Seemed to make all the symptoms worse. Only thing I have is vitamin D3 and paracetamol/ibuprofen.

I don't take any meds for fibro but I'm on a neuropeptide for migraines.

Hi Wonky chicken, I weaned myself off all the meds except Naproxine which I take only when the pain is incapacitating. All other meds had horrendous side effects.

Hi wonky chicken (love the name), I took myself off amitriptylene 2 years ago and now just on nightly paracetamol, plus vitamin and probiotic tablets. Couldn't deal with the side effects. I also stopped having gluten, dairy, alcohol, tea, coffee, chocolate and vastly cut down my sugar intake. Just dealing with my menopause now which is messing up my fibro!!!! Tajw care:)

Iv never taken anything exept paracetamol as I dont like taking medication very sensitive to them I also exercise every morning lying on my bed which has really helped with my strength .

I had to stop taking paracetamol as it affected my liver , unfortunately no medication is free from side effects.

Hello. Like you, I can’t tolerate the prescribed medications. I just get by on a couple of paracetamol if I feel really bad.

I do rely heavily on a basic diet. Just natural food without additives - no alcohol, no coffee, no fungal foods. Sometimes I cheat and have some chocolate - but my fibro doesn’t like it and does protest.

I do take quite a few supplements. I did pay to see a Fibro Specialist in London. He was helpful but very expensive so couldn’t keep seeing him. He advised me to take Co-enzyme Q10 and Vitamin E. I get them from Lamberts.

I have been taking them for 10 years. It’s difficult to say if they work - but my fibro has stabilised and hasnt got noticeably worse. Who knows how I would be without them? Not going to risk it.

Xxx

Like others I found meds made me like a zombie so I pace myself instead to manage pain and fatigue levels. I'm currently focusing on getting good sleep so I take prescription Zapain on average once a week if the pain is bad, but I do feel a bit out of it the next day. I also take over the counter diphenhydramine hydrochloride 50mg if needed again on average once a week.

Same here - tried quite a few, none helped, most harmed severely (which I knew beforehand, but still tried), only kept with amitriptyline for 4 months, with side effects increasing to 8, then much better without... (weaned off inside of about 2 weeks).

Hi,

I’ve been prescribed 2 meds but one was absolutely awful just with one table than I’m reluctant to take the other that’s been prescribed!

I’ve been looking in to alternative ways to help with fibro rather than taking antidepressants when I’m not depressed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes. I have been lucky enough to move and leave stress behind. There was allot. My gp once said a script writer would say my life story was 2 far fetched. I find relaxation, healing, hypnotherapy, . Meditation. Helps with the stress. Ease that and allot of the symptoms ease. My stressful afternoon in a and e left me having a bad day yesterday. Reducing sulphites in my diet has successfully reduced allot of the others. Alternative therapy isnt for every 1. But it ticked allot of boxes for me.
