Hi.

Not used to Forums but decided to join though, as my Fibromyalgia has taken

A turn for the worse causing pain in all joints and lack of free mobility.

Started gabapentine again on slow start up, will probably have to try amitriptyline

As well .

Please see profile small insight to me and this disability.

Amitriptyline helped me, just let me get enough sleep so I didn’t have that to bear aswell! Although they stopped it when I was pregnant and I’ve been riding the fibro wave with nothing since 😭

healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., hello and welcome, a good forum to read posts and have a chat here, we are part of a very big unwanted club. If you would like to lock any further posts there is a link above , that way only our community can see and not open to any other site engines on the internet. I hope you find something that helps , we seem to have to trial different meds until we get something that helps with our daily fibro ,so in the meantime I hope you find the forum helpful. 😀

I find I can not take amitriptyline as well as gabapentin as I get too drowsy with them, if I had full doses of gabapentin and just take it at night I struggle to get up next day and have awful headache all day. Good luck.xx

Welcome, I was put on Amitriptyline for fibro about a yr or so ago but I'm only on 10mg and to be honest I'm not sure what they are supposed to do as I really don't think they are doing anything at the moment. I'm in so much pain every day now, I can't walk into my kitchen or stand for even 5 mins without being in severe pain with my legs. The doc has suggested tramodol but I don't want that drug, the people I've seen that have had it then they become addicted and then the doctors take it away from them. The doc says take as and when required but I'm in pain everyday just lately so this is not a good idea. Although it was suggested by the rheumatology that the Amitriptyline could be increased to 100mg a day so maybe this is an option

HiAsk about Gabbapentine or Pregablin might help along side your amitriptyline, try upping the amitriptyline to 2x 10mg at night.

Thanks for the advice Ralky I'm not sure if they will put me on them because of all the other medication. I didn't realise I am on 20mg at night but it's not enough now. I refuse to take tramodol for sure

HiI was started on 10 mg Amitriptyline about 4 months ago and found it helped me sleep eased the leg and hip pain and especially my shoulder pain. It made me a bit sleepy next morning hard to get up but when up I'm fine not groggy. I try to take it at 6 or 7 pm if I don't forget. After a few weeks i was less sleepy following morning. After few months noticed it wasn't as effective so I'm on 20mg now try to take it early. It definately helps relieve pain to get a nights sleep.
