Morbid subject but it is stats.

Birthrate for 2018 was 650K so we would require 54K deaths per month to show a negative effect on population size. There is no country that has deaths through covid at this level. And with the law of unintended consequences we will have some unintended lives being saved as people will not be dying in work place accidents.

But bottom line is who knows.

nine months from now what will the birth rate do I wondered

Loony Z That's complicated then

Corrr.

There was a jump in the birth rate late 1974, nine months after the 3 day week when TV shut down at about 10.15/10.30 each night. Yes, I was in the maternity ward!

Same numbers (1.92) as 2012 and 2013 but numbers have been decreasing a bit since then.

I could only go on what the midwives were saying as I was stuck in the hospital for a while before the birth with pre- eclampsia. They couldn’t understand why they were so busy as the pressure usually dropped off a bit once September was over ( 9 months after Xmas) Perhaps it was just a local trend, there wasn’t a lot to do in those days :)

in reply to

Hi sorry to hear about the pre- eclampsia. it sounds horrendous hope your ok

IIt was just a thought I had about human reaction to the present situation will get closer together or further apart as a reaction to present situation

Peace and good health to you X

There was a spike as 1.7 and 1.8 are more normal numbers.

in reply to desquinn

Ah so your vote would be for an increase then mr statistics

thankyou

in reply to desquinn

You got me confused mate is that population numbers

desquinn profile image
desquinnPartnerVolunteerFMAUK Trustee in reply to

When you are comparing between years the total number does not make sense. So that ratio is the total fertility rate i.e children per woman.

in reply to desquinn

you are serious statistics soule will be interesting to see what pans out in regard to which week of the lock down we are in

Brilliant

Rather loving stats I see them as a tool and in 9 - 12 months we will know a little bit but it will be 6 months later most likely we have some of the stats. But its nothing to put energy into as it will be.

However it is not a given as unintended consequences will play in with people socialy isolating from their partners etc. Que Sera, Sera.

the thing is it is not the stats that I like as they can be turned to a purpose but the correct information from the data. We have too much false info going about.

:)

in reply to

That the kind of statistic i was pondering on soyour vote is for an increase then

Loving thoughts to you X

do you have a source for this advice as I was unaware of it.

desquinn profile image

RCOG advice seems to minimise the risk profile for both pregnant and those looking to get pregnant and explains why they are in the vulnerable group

Your vote would bee for a decrease then, x

It might equal out, half the fertile population keeping themselves busy and the other half using it as holiday from their OH! 🤔

Half keeping themselves busy😍 half using it as a holiday😎😍 that might double it then x
