I have a friend who had very good results with a therapy called Mickel Therapy.
Seemingly it’s more to do with ‘the brain’ than medication
I am going for my first session and I will let you all know how I get along.
Fingers crossed.

It is NLP - neuro linguistic programming so not far removed from Cognitive Behavioral therapy. Some people have said they had benefit but not that many in my experience. Also it has no trials evidence with fibro and not sure about other conditions.
Best of luck.
Hello desquinn, I know that it’s not NLP but it may be something similar ? I am waiting for my initial appointment but will keep everyone informed if I feel that it is worthwhile.
AFAIK it is an NLP derivative since NLP is a trademark. However there is some other justification and pseudoscience that is folded into it as well that makes it less palatable. Its reach towards Quantum physics does unnerve me.
Thank you Desqinne, I have had another response from a lady who undertook nine sessions. I believe it is to do with looking after ‘yourself’ first then others. Which to be honest I could do with. But, will I listen or be able to put it into practice. It will be interesting.
I was unaware of the Quantum physics element but I don’t think I will have a problem as I’m very interested in the subject - and completely believe that we and the universe are all one. Let’s see how it’s put ! Thank you again, TootiePie
Thanks please do, as I just had a letter from a hospital re my pain management referral indicating to my GP how the service is under pressure etc. If I am honest I have lost the will to live with nhs.
Proof that this condition is not taken seriously. Basically a lot of time they leave it to you to manage. It’s like do or die 💔
Hello, I undertook Mickel therapy in 2006, when it was a relatively new therapy. It's a talking therapy which helps you to understand how to manage and reduce your symptoms (not a cure!!) It helps you make subtle changes to your lifestyle to minimise your symptoms, and helps you understand and manage situations which cause your symptoms flare up.
I found after 10 sessions I was starting to understand what I needed to do, but the hardest part is putting it into practice in everyday life. It helps you to understand that you need to put your self first without feeling guilty about it. I think applying the knowledge into everyday life, is the most difficult thing I have ever done.
You then need to put it into practice in your daily life, which I have been doing for the last 14 years! I now manage to keep my symptoms to a minimum, without pain killers, and also manage to work part time. If you have any questions then please feel free to ask me, and I hope that the therapy goes well (you will find it very hard to begin with) let me know how you get on with it, wishing you all the best xxx
Thank you so much for your reply phlebo123. It’s reassuring to hear that someone else has gone through the process. I was thinking that the treatment would go along those lines. The real problem will be trying to put it into action - as you have rightly said. I am definitely a people pleaser and find it very difficult to say NO. In fact I fell out with a friend today and was in tears due to being told off for not being on time to see them when I had already spent the day helping two other people. One who is elderly and quite demanding and didn’t want me to leave - hence being late !!!
The brain and the physical are intimately linked and I think I’m in the process of a divorce right now 😂
I am getting some relief from pain by using Duloxatine anti depressants and gabapentine pain killers. I am so lucky that I have found something that at least works part of the way to a pain free life. I also know how lucky I am compared to many of the poor people on this site - I’m just trying to find other alternatives to tablets.
Thank you so much for your story - it has helped enlighten me on what to expect.
Sending you a healing hug, TootiePie.
