Hi and a warm welcome to our community. Here you will find information, support, friendship and laughter too. You will find more general information about fibromyalgia on our main website fmauk.org

Before I diagnosed, they did suspect I had a form of arthritis but that was discounted because bloods were always clear, so I was never really mis-diagnosed but it did take 12 years to finally get my fibro diagnosis xxx

They had excluded everything else and gp was pretty much putting it down to depression (yes I did have depression but that was not explaining why when depression improved my other symptoms didn't)

I had tried to return to work part time ... Doing admin in an office, and one day I couldn't pick up the phone to answer it. My arm felt like it had lead weights tied to it and completely weak.

Went back to gp in a panic that something serious was going on, and she turned round and said I think you have fibromyalgia, go online and look it up and here is the nearest support group details.

Was later confirmed by rheumatology physio who specialises in fibro, and she did what was then the newly introduced diagnosis questionnaire

I was considered a hypochondriac for most of the 20+ years it took me to get a diagnosis.

It’s a joke, pretty similar to me it’s taken me 11 years and I’m still not completely diagnosed I made a formal complaint about the dr I saw on Wednesday as she was extremely rude, how did they finally diagnose you midori ??? Xx

I took in a load of paper blurb about Fibro from Medical Magazines; they took a look and I was booked to see a rheumatologist quite quickly.

Fight them on their own ground!, says I.

Cheers, Midori
