Hi has anyone been through the process of having a medical assessment to be able to claim limited capability for work benefits if so how long after the assessment do you get a result and if successful is payment backdated

ESA and Universal Credit are subject to different rules. For ESA they pay a standard amount during the assessment period. You only get more if you are put in the Support Group by the LCWRA. For Universal Credit you get no money for the first 5 weeks.

You can wait about 6 weeks after the assessment before you get the letter giving you the decision.

The waiting time after the assessment is different for different areas of the country. They recommend you wait 6 weeks, then phone them up if you have not heard anything. My cousin went though it and got her decision letter through her online account. Good luck.
