Hi.

I've recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

For the past four years, I've had episodes of muscle stiffness, extreme fatigue and dizziness.

Each episode lasted between 7 - 10 days, and they occurred at roughly 3 monthly intervals.

It now seems to me that the symptoms I had then are very similar to what I have now, although now the symptoms are ongoing.

I wondered if maybe the fibromyalgia has been coming for some time, and if anyone out there has had a similar experience.

Thanks for replying.

I never got to a doctor when it was happening previously, I could never get an appointment in time.

This time round, I was initially treated for GCA. By a process of elimination we've reached the diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

I'm waiting to get some hydrotherapy.

Hope you're managing to stay well.

Hi Linda3009,

Apart from the timings of your incidents being different to mine, your story is Very similar. I was diagnosed 4 weeks ago ( although symptoms have been around for a long long time) and apart from my husband, I haven’t told anyone yet, I just can’t get my head around it. I find I’m analysing every twinge- is it fybromyalgia or something else? Also, in a morning when I wake up ( that’s assuming I’ve managed to sleep!) for a split second I feel ok, then someone ‘flicks a switch’ and I feel an electric fence type tingling pain around my body. I’m not sure if this is fybromyalgia- do you get this?

Sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with this mysterious horrid ailment.

I don't get any tingling, just a constant background feeling of having overdone it at the gym.

I hope you can come to terms with things, make sure you get help from physios, pain teams etc.

Good luck!
